Bubble bath suggestuons for DH?

TronaldDump · 02/06/2017 10:28

It's DH's birthday in a couple of weeks and I want to get him something nice for th3 bath (he loves baths and has at least one a week) but I hate them and feel a bit confused by all the bubble baths/oils/salts etc you can add.

Ideally I'd like something luxurious with a relaxing/sleep enabling effect, which smells nice but not too flowery - any suggestions?

Oh and ps up to about £20 but I don't want to spend too much as he tends to tip about half a bottle into each bath so it won't last!

I'd recommend the aromatic foaming bath by Neals Yard. It's got a lovely calming smell without being feminine and it comes in a really nice bottle

Oh and the relaxing bath salts by l'occitane are lovely too and my DP enjoys using them in his baths

originalbiglymavis · 02/06/2017 10:35

I was going to say that or Moulton Brown. Lovely stuff. Oh to have time to soak in a bath!

bruffin · 02/06/2017 10:37

Dh likes loccitane verbena and rituals

Boredbeforeievenbegan · 02/06/2017 10:39

Another vote for Molton Brown!

canihaveacoffeeplease · 02/06/2017 10:44

The Molton brown black pepper one is gorgeous for a man, warming and soothing, great for bedtime and smells lush! My OH loves it. Aesop do some gorgeous ones too, the coriander seed one would be good.

TronaldDump · 02/06/2017 10:49

Oh loads of suggestions thanks! I'm not a big fan of Molton Brown myself - do you think the men's stuff is quite different? Can't really explain why I don't like it though! Neal's Yard is a good shout and I love L'occitaine for myself so will look too. Wonder if i can make it to the shops in time to sniff Molton Brown...

Molton Brown do some bath salts for men that my dad likes when he's aching from doing the garden.

Badedas is lovely and relaxing and not girly too, but maybe not posh enough for what you're after.

And Space NK (their own brand) did a lovely muscle relaxing bath soak at one point but I think it might be discontinued- it was in a white bottle with a relaxing polar bear cartoon on it!

Also suggest Aromatherapy Associates oils for sleep inducing-ness - they smell amaaaaazing...

MrsBadger · 02/06/2017 14:11

The ultimate one is the Elemis aching muscle soak, which is above your budget but DH claims saves him £60pcm on a physio - I don't know what they put in it but it really works.

Wormulonian · 02/06/2017 15:19

My teen DS has taken to using my Molton Brown Eucalyptus which is really lovely for sore muscles. Crabtree and Evelyn Sandal wood or West indian lime smells great and I'm also (like others here) a big fan of L'Occitane Verbena which is a great summer smell which I use (unisex)

Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet is old school but comes in at £26 ish

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 02/06/2017 16:05

Not luxurious but these are nice Dr Salts
Dead Sea salts are nice too.
Badedas is gorgeous.

My dp would be bemused to be given expensive bubble bath, and would far rather have several bottles of mid-priced ones. Might be a way forward, especially if your OH likes to be pretty free with his pouring!

My DH loves this one

Origins ginger zing is fantastic. I don't find it invigorating, despite the name, but maybe that's because I find baths inherently relaxing.

witwootoodleoo · 02/06/2017 18:17

Do you have a spa bath? If so make sure your get something that doesn't foam unless you enjoy a foam party Grin

TronaldDump · 02/06/2017 19:34

Oh wow so many great suggestions! Thank you! Will take a look and see if I can decide. Remus you may have a point which is why I want something nice but not too expensive! Wit don't worry we have a lovely deep freestanding bath but no extra bubble power!

I have to hide the Badedas from my husband. He'd use half a bottle in one go. He loves it.

carrotcakecupcake · 02/06/2017 20:00

DH loves the men's stuff by Cowshed (can't remember what it's called) though I'm not sure if they do products specific for the bath helpful.
