Another expensive bag thread - Anya Hindmarch

I saw this yesterday, 30% off in House of Fraser at the moment. Is it as nice as I think it is? I'd be interested in any experiences of Anya Hindmarch bags. Are they the sort of quality you'd expect for the price? Do they last?

How much??!! It's very nice (don't like the writing inside, duh) but not £££££ nice.

I'm really heavy on bags though so it wouldn't stay cream for very long.

I think it's beautiful 😍 I've never seen it it before and if I had the cash I think I'd go for it. Looks timeless.
I've had a fabric bag of hers that was lined in suede. I was young and dumb and tried to clean it.

I have a maxi zip satchel (which looks like what your bag's design was based on) and I love it. Beautiful quality inside and out and very practical. I got mine from their outlet in Bicester for around £450, but I believe it was £950 full price. The strap on mine did break within 2 weeks of purchase but the staff were very helpful and replaced it immediately and no fuss. I also have a purse (also purchased from Bicester) which is lovely too.

I'm not so keen on her novelty type bags but I think the more classic styles are great.

Thanks all. MooMin, it's exactly that it looks both beautiful and very practical that appeals. I like the way the straps adjust to different lengths, for example.

I'm also not keen on the novelty bags - really not sure who the target market is for those. They look like things a teen might like, but at prices no teen other than the daughters of billionaires could afford

AH is known for putting pockets inside the bags, I don't think I'd bother if that style didn't have compartments as that's the whole USP for that brand for me.

It's a lovely bag and the price is pretty normal for luxury bags that size (unfortunately).

But the double zips would drive me batty. I'm wierd about closures though. If it takes longer than 10 secs to open it I want to throw it across the room.

I like it. I'm amazed at the price of designer bags now - I'm remember the days when even Mulberry bags cost nowhere near a grand. But I digress!

I like the compartments and the contrasting colours. Agree that the double zip has the potential to get on your nerves when you're trying to get at your money/phone in a hurry, though.

I'd also say that it might be worth holding fire until the sales properly start in July. You might get a further reduction to 50%.

If the double zips are like mine, there's actually a magnetic closure so you don't need to actually zip it up if that makes sense? I leave the flap unzipped and just flip it open and shut as needed. It's a strong zip and contents have never spilled out

Looking at the interior shot it has the same magnetic circle that mine has so would say it's the same!

That should have read it's a strong magnet (but the zips are strong too!)

For that money I think I'd want a real statement bag rather than an understated classic, which is what this will be. But if the money doesn't bother you then go for it. I think it's the kind of bag you'd still be using in 5 years, if the double zip closure hasn't driven you nuts by then!

MooMin yes, it does have a strong magnetic close so that you can do without the zip.

Understated classic is exactly what I am aiming for Fuzzy, so decision now is probably whether to buy now or to see if it's discounted further later. If I buy it I'll be using a discount scheme I get through work which will give me nearly another 10% off, which helps.

I have the maxi zip satchel too in black but the large version. I've used it every single day for 5 years and I adore it. The quality is amazing and the leather is beautiful. I also dont zip it up, just lift the flap. Best bag ever and well worth its £850. Id love a smaller one too in a different colour.

I think it's horrible! However, I am the least stylish person in the world so that should count as another positive towards it.

I have an Ebury tote which is lovely but do be careful as AH leathers tend to scratch rather easily I have found, and you don't get that same lovely worn in effect your get with say a classic old-style Mulberry leather - it just looks worn 😔. However the bags are gorgeous, the quality is otherwise great and this would be an issue with any bag made in that sort of leather regardless of the designer.

I also have an AH bag from Bicester so a fraction of what that one costs, but it's beautiful quality, the insides are the softest suede. It's a clutch bag size so I only use it for best but it's a good today as the day I bought it.

Just to update and to say thanks to HeyRoly for suggesting I wait. I managed to get the bag today at 50% off. It still the most I've ever spent on a bag, but I am really pleased with it!
