Is it possible?

Yes of course! Just takes practise..

justkeeponsmiling · 29/05/2017 08:48

My 11 year old has taught herself to so it because I am so rubbish at it. Her hair is halfway down her back and she does a brilliant job now after loads of practice.

FeckTheMagicDragon · 29/05/2017 08:50

Yes - I can do it on my own, but not others unless I shut my eyes :)

jeaux90 · 29/05/2017 08:52

YouTube has a lot of videos on how to do different hairstyles. I can do my own french plait.

CMOTDibbler · 29/05/2017 08:52

Yes, just takes practice.

BeanSprout79 · 29/05/2017 08:53

Yep, can't remember how I started but just know I can and it looks good (made dh take a picture to be sure).

I find a 'reverse' French plait is easier on myself - so you put the strands under rather than over.

Wh0Kn0wsWhereTheTimeGoes · 29/05/2017 09:25

Yes, I taught myself as a teenager. I can't do the reverse one though.

StressedMover · 29/05/2017 09:28

brieand chilli so do I- called a Dutch braid!

Stormwhale · 29/05/2017 09:30

I started teaching myself by trying it at night after a bath with slightly damp hair. It didn't matter what it came out like as no-one would see it anyway. I found the hair being slightly damp helps as it isn't so fly away. I have since found that a light spray of volumising dry hair shampoo works in the same manner. Your arms will ache at first!

VanillaSugar · 29/05/2017 09:33

Is this the same as the fishtail Plait? How does anyone do it? I love it, but can't plait it.

Aartappel · 29/05/2017 09:34

Yes! I used to do it when I had way too much patience and way too much time before school years ago. Grin

UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter · 29/05/2017 09:36

I used to do all my own hairstyles when I was at school. My mum could do a ponytail and that was it.

That's why I get so frustrated that my 11 yr old won't let me do anything with her hair and will only have a ponytail

StressedMover · 29/05/2017 09:36

No a fishtail plait is started with parting the length I need two. Then taking a small section from the outer side of one part crossing it over to the outer side of the other part and continue. Quite time consuming though!

StressedMover · 29/05/2017 09:37

In two!
