Can anyone recommend an alternative to skinnies

I usually wear skinny jeans, but I'm starting to get bored with them, also starting to get thicker round the waist and finding them less comfortable and flattering.
I'm quite small, size 10 about 5' 2" so feel swamped by baggy clothes.
What would be a good alternative?

Try straightleg or what I call peg-shaped (not sure what newfangled term for that is)

Avoid flares at all costs - both big and small (aka bootcut) and 'novelty' cuts, such as those with a ruffle sticking out or an elastic holding in.

Following for inspiration as I'm the same size roughly and live in skinnines! I suppose some sort of slim chinos might look nice in warmer times, with sandals or pumps, but it's cooler weather with boots that I really feel like I couldn't wear anything else! Would love some ideas

Leggings perhaps? You can get thick gym ones now if you aren't a fan of see through. Also straight leg jeans with folded up cuffs maybe?

Thanks for the quick replies and good ideas, I'lll have a look today.
I tend to swell up in the heat and can't face wearing tight jeans in this weather!

Boyfriend/girlfriend jeans rolled up at the bottom. I find the looser style more comfortable in hot weather. Try gap for girlfriend jeans.

If it doesn't have to be jeans, try uniqlo trousers.

They're a narrow fit so won't add bulk with too much extra fabric flapping at ankles, but are looser than skinnies (and have elastic at the waist, but not so you'd notice, IYSWIM, so should be forgiving of a slightly changed body shape).

I've recently bought a particular of their ankle skimmers for summer

I'm the same size and height and recently bought Benetton chinos. I'm delighted with them, slim but they skim and they are nice heavy cotton.

Agree peg leg is a cool shape

I am exactly the same, living in skinny jeans and finding them uncomfortable.

I bought a pair of boden Richmond wide crop trousers which is not my style at all but they are flattering on the waist and hips and they are suitable for casual wear or work. I have had compliments on them already.

polyhymnia · 27/05/2017 10:41

Was about to suggest Boden Richmond wide crop or seven- eighth trousers.

Want2beme · 27/05/2017 11:20

I wear mostly straight, never thought I would, but I like them at this time of year. I like straight chinos as well and tapered. I wear skinnies in the winter when I can also wear big cardies to hide my horrendous saddle bags.

KanyesLunchbox · 27/05/2017 12:46

The wide Richmond's look nice. What's the sizing like?

mamahibou · 27/05/2017 12:52

I have two pairs of Richmond 7/8th or whatever they're called from Boden. I'm 5 3 and a 10-12. Got 12 petite and they are a teeny bit loose. Super comfy and good for this weather.

Chinos ? Boyfriend jeans ( size down though) , harem trousers ?

Pouffealouffe · 27/05/2017 13:43

I'm a total devotee of skinny jeans, but recently discovered H&M chinos and I love them! They're fairly slim and really comfy. They look a bit smarter than jeans and they're much cooler in the warm weather. And they're cheap (I think £20)
