What goes with this dress?

I've got a dress I love and that I'd like to wear to a work dinner and dance thing. Got a nice necklace but I'm a bit stuck on the other accessoires - I would really appreciate your ideas for some kind of shrug and clutch bag. And has anyone an idea about comfy shoes that would go with it but that don't have high heels - smaller heels are ok but I suffer a lot from back problems and it involves a lot of standing around.

Your help would be much appreciated as I left it late and need to sort this weekend.

What's the necklace like? Is it in the picture (I can't see it clearly) If it's gots lots of oomph I'd go simple clutch and shoes, dark green or gold maybe?

FancyPantsDelacroixTheFirst · 25/05/2017 20:02

Also I'd go shawl rather than shrug, it's a lovely dress, makes me think of Lauren Bacall for some reason.

OlennasWimple · 25/05/2017 20:11

I would go for a shawl too, along with some chunky heels, maybe some Mary Janes

What's your shoe budget?

toffeeboffin · 25/05/2017 20:14

I swear there was an almost identical dress on here a couple of days ago!

I'd wear silver with it.

CrispyBathTowel · 25/05/2017 20:39

It's a lovely dress OP. I've always thought that green and black look very sophisticated together for a dinner dance. If you can't wear high heels - what about black suede kitten heels or low heeled/block heeled black suede strappies? A black clutch bag and then maybe a different coloured shrug/shawl.

I think a pale gold could work in shoes or a scarf. It's beautiful, so let it speak for itself x

I have that dress. I wear it with a cream shawl and my wedding shoes, plus silver jewellery.

BestIsWest · 25/05/2017 20:53

Lovely dress OP. No advice for you, but it's lovely.

Maudlinmaud · 25/05/2017 20:56

My god that is stunning.

TittyGolightly · 25/05/2017 21:08

I first wore that dress 11 years ago at a wedding! Just shows how classic it is!

Yayne · 25/05/2017 22:29

Brilliant ideas - I missed that other thread! Thanks everyone, shawl it is. I'll need to look up kitten heels :)

It's a gorgeous dress. Where is it from?

TittyGolightly · 26/05/2017 08:37

Monsoon. About 12 years ago.

Gorgeous dress and beautiful colour! I'd say no to the shawl or shrug. That dress wants to be seen, and covering it would take away from the glamour, in my opinion. For shoes I'd search out something era-appropriate and I'd keep it simple and get a great hair cut.

MyGastIsFlabbered · 26/05/2017 09:13

There's quite a few on eBay. Which colour to go for? I have a wedding in June to go to.
