Summer colours close to my face don't suit me

Hmmm, I look washed out. I did know that pastels didn't suit me, on top anyway, but I'm trying to look more summery. I'm wearing a pastel green too and blue striped trousers and I've ended up putting a black cardigan with it just to look better 😬😬

I don't know my 'colours' but I'm white skinned with a yellow undertone with naturally dark brown hair that's now predominantly grey so I put blonde through it.

I did take a photo for a hair thread a while back so I'll attach that.

Any ideas what I could do to look more summery but still look vaguely attractive?

There was a thread a few days ago about people who wear black in summer.

The consensus was keep on wearing black anyway.

Same for dark colours like navy/khaki etc

If you have yellow undertones black really be expected to be one of your better colours. If you look at your wrists what colour do you veins look - blue or green?

burnishedsilver · 24/05/2017 11:10

"black wouldn't really be expected"

Sorry, missing a word there.

There's a whole load of colour between black and pastel! I'm fair and wear a lot of colour, but I also find pastel washes me out. I go for soft blues, teals, navy, some pinks, dove grey, white. Black and cream make me look ill.

It's not doing your colours but this might give you a starting point in considering other colours www.truth-is-beauty.com/color-analysis-quiz.html you're supposed to get someone to do it for you, I did it for myself.

I'd guess you at being a true or soft summer.

There is no rule that says one must wear pastels in summer! Wear anything you damn well like!

I am a proud autumn (warm yellowy skin tone, green eyes, brown-to-auburn hair) and I just wear autumn colours all summer too - brown, green, tan, khaki, orange. I guess it helps that I very rarely wear black anyway.

You look like a winter to me.
So you need bright, strong, cool colours. Not pastels, not browns or orange/gold.

There is a whole bunch of specktum of colors besides black and pastel. It might be you dont feel ok in other colors because you are not used to it.

There are people who need saturated hues, people who need pastel, people who need shaded colors-with gray tint.

I would suggest you look into some system of color analysis to try to determine what your be you type.

The other way to wear colors is to wear whatever color you want but to use accessory in color which suits you around your face, that would be scarf or necklace for example.

I know electric blue suits me. I hate shopping and so have clothes in my wardrobe from decades ago that I dig our from time to time. I know I don't suit yellow or pink closecto my face, i do suit navy and black, I also suit bright white.
