Smart casual shoes for 13yo boy NO trainers

He lives in trainers, we have a few smart/ smart casual events coming up which are specifically no trainers. We are having no luck finding anything that he doesn't either hate or regard as dad fashion. Can anyone help with some suggestions? TIA

My boys are younger than yours, but I have teenage brothers who have been quite happy with the shoes from deichmann.
The current favs are the sports type one which look like smart shoes (fooled the teachers and looked good for posh family do), but they have better grip and aren't as 'stiff' as smart shoes.

My ds has just bought ok, I bought some smart grey (but there were also navy and black ones) converse style smart casual suede/Nubuck shoes. They have the white rim that makes them suitably acceptable to a 16 year old (in ds' case) but black soles. They do have a small Nike swoosh on the side though. He preferred them to a similar pair as he liked the stitching on top.
