Capsule beach holiday wardrobe?

Pinkvici22 · 22/05/2017 22:51

Off to Ibiza at the weekend - family holiday, nice hotel. Mostly relaxing, in the pool, sunbathing etc.

Late 30's, size 12, decent curvy figure.

Plenty of tan/metallic sandals and accessories. Bikinis sorted. Have a few simple dresses/playsuits for evening.

All my clothes seem old - any suggestions for a few "key" pieces?

I'm in a similar situation - but going in a few weeks. Also planning to take hand luggage only so will have to be extremely capsule! Was thinking of swimming cozzy, cover up type thing, a couple of dresses for evening but don't know what else so watching with interest.....

You sound pretty sorted to me, presumably it will be hot so you won't need much anyway. Have you got some kind of beach dress /cover up and flip flops for the pool? What about if you go out during the day? Shorts and vest top or t-shirt?

Thanks both. I've got flip flops, need cover ups for the pool/beach.

We go abroad twice a year and it's only been in recent years that I realised I was taking far too many clothes.

Now, I take several bikinis and similar amount of cover ups, these can be playsuit style or dresses. I wear a bikini all day and if we go out I just pull a cover up on.

For the night I take a few more outfits, dresses and vest top/shorts.

I don't even take that many shoes anymore. Maybe 4 different pairs, more than enough!

Thanks ems

Has anyone seen any nice cover ups?

Figleaves and Accessorise normally have lovely coverups.

New look have got some lovely things, a lot of my holiday stuff comes from there. The playsuit material is really light and cool and the dresses look stylish rather than typical cover up style. Very reasonably priced too, especially considering you only wear these things for annual holidays!

Take a look at an American website called vacay. They are also on pintrest. It will give you a great idea of key pieces to build a mix and match capsule summer wardrobe. I'm using it to create mine. Try and stock to 2 main neutral colours and 1 or possibly 2 accent colours. Mine are navy and white with coral or burgundy accents
