Short of losing 5 stone I'm the next 3 weeks, I'm off on holiday at size 18-20, big boobs & pear shape. I want to be comfy first and foremost but has anyone any refs of type of things to wear to look less bad or actual products in the shops? Preferably budget-it's an all inclusive with dc so won't be out much. Dh has lost lots of weight & looks toned & fab so want to make a little it of effort!

If it's any comfort, I have always found that however fat i may think I look in a swimsuit when I'm on holiday, there's always a vast Russian lady in a tiny bikini to make me feel much better Grin

Thanks for this - have just ordered a couple of linen tshirts and a dress. I hate this time of year for clothes as I'm short and fat. Luckily I live in Scotland so our summer is usually short, but we're off to holland in July, so I need some clothes!

@missingthesea Grin I know though, Awful to say but there's always someone worse than me & it's fine when I'm there-the pasty seldom seen body is too hot to care what I look like & usually too burnt and drunk by the evening!

I bought a dress in the charity shop yesterday that is actually much too big but it means the neckline is lower & sits just below the knee so am going to take it in. Might invest in the Boden dress also though not sure if I'd wear it after hols. Started on my tan today on the garden :)

This is the dress-will be blowing the dust off the sewing machine later!

I am a plus size (20 bottom and 22-24 top). During the day I wear long shorts and sleeveless linen blouses and in the evening I like to wear long dresses with a bit of definition at the waist. Evans do "comfort shorts" which are like a pair of tights but mid thigh length, which stops any chafing. I also like long floaty trousers which can be dressed up or down. I struggle with swimwear - everything seems to have so much padding. When you are rather large in the boob department, the last thing you need is heavy padding, which makes you about four cup sizes bigger!

Too pricey for me but looks comfy - bravissimo

I am currently wearing the next dress with the multicoloured floral pattern. It is very comfortable and not too low under the arms. Highly recommended. Wierdlythe nexkline is much higher than I would normally choose, but looks great. Lots of colours to accesorise to as well.

buckeejit · 26/05/2017 23:25

I will try the next dress but I know that it won't work-I'm big boobed but pear shape & think I need stretch fabric otherwise a permanent seamstress on my nonexistent staff-to fit on the hips, there's always gaping at the chest, grrr! I will report back on my high St sweep tomorrow-the charity shop m&s fix has gone very well!

Good luck buckeejit Fingers crossed the next dress looks better than you expect!

Have you ever tried Lindy Bop? I like their stuff-vintage-y 50s look. Very affordable and there is a sale on this weekend. There is a red jumpsuit I like that is now £17. They do sizes 6-26.

asda had some lovely wide legged elastic waist trousers for £10 Shock i got a navy pair with big cream and yellow roses on them, they are so comfy, needed a smaller size than usual and they look good with my navy jacket and yellow top.

Have a look at the Lagenlook site. Some lovely linen cool looking stuff.

pleasestopsnoring · 29/05/2017 19:58

If you like the look of the Lagenlook style I can recommend looking on ebay. There's loads there, it's a style rather than just a company, some of it much nicer than the website.

sunnyhills · 30/05/2017 08:10

I like the Lagenlook style but I'm not sure it's right for short people .Sadly .
