Burberry Trench - yea or nay?

It’s been a phenomenally shit 2 years, have burned £40k on fertility treatment and now at the end of the road, and starting to emerge out of the dark and try to find a new normal

Trying to revamp my wardrobe to a more capsule style, with fewer + better quality pieces. If I’m going to be barren and childless, I’d like to at least be stylish.

My 10+ y.o. French Connection trench finally gave up the ghost, leaving a black-trench-shaped hole. I’ve got a very basic M&S black trench as a stopgap - it’s perfectly serviceable, but it’s not the most flattering on my small frame (5’8” and size 6-8). So I’m on the hunt for that perfect, slim fit, good quality trench that will cinch in at the waist, and last me for years to come.

Meeting a friend yesterday, I saw her Burberry trench up close.

DROOOOOOL.

It really is epically stunning. And so very flattering on her.

Am finding myself seriously debating whether to spring for a Burberry trench as a lifetime investment piece (my 65 y.o Dad has had his for over 40 years)

It is a completely insane amount of money to spend, obvs. Utterly obscene.

Would I be completely out of my tree?

A Burberry Trench is the epitome of trench coats. If I ever had the money I could snap one up without hesitation.

Like PP said, Biscter Village usually have trenches in the Burberry outlet and although last season the trench never actually changes design.

DD has just bought herself one and I have to say she looks amazing in it . She even had it monogrammed ( flash ) Grin
Her grandmother(94) had to try it on and loved it !
I didn't ....DD is size 8-10 and I am 14-16 and I didn't want to depress myself.
DH still has his from the 70s . Fab coat .

Enjoy !

The good thing about Bicester is they often have trench coats with detailing that isn't on the standard ones and makes them even more special. Go for it, it will last forever and won't ever look dated and will make you feel fab whenever you wear it. You deserve a pick me up and the trench will be one that lasts and lasts.

Yes go for it. I have just been looking at the website and they are a thing of beauty 😍😍😍 especially the wool trench.
Throw in a monogrammed scarf for good measure.

I see a burberry trench coat in my future

MrsEricBana · 23/05/2017 13:16

I wouldn't want one for me (as I'd look like a waterproof sofa in it) BUT I think you should go for it - enjoy!!!

FilledSoda · 23/05/2017 13:22

I've been through a similar journey op.
I'm 45 now , sadly not a size 6-8 so I went down the designer bag path instead.
Buy it !!!!!

thethoughtfox · 23/05/2017 14:33

OnlyTheDepthVaries · 23/05/2017 16:07

plumstone · 23/05/2017 16:59

Buy it!!!! - I covet my Dad's from the early 80's and know it would look awesome on me. Its the one thing he is not prepared to lend or give me, in fact he actually gets twitchy when i look at it!! Grin

Brogadoccio · 23/05/2017 17:06

I think they are beautiful. I have tried on a few and fantasised.

You should do it.

DO it as a gift to yourself. Mark a new chapter.

Barbadosgirl · 03/09/2017 23:17

Picture! You made the right choice, OP.

chloechloe · 04/09/2017 06:59

Good for you! Do post a pic so we can drool!

Grassroots01 · 04/09/2017 10:33

Wow! Would love a picture! I have been drooling over them all day! Tried on a lovely beige trench in Mango yesterday, which was only £80, however I'd already spent £100's on other shopping so thought I'd better back away from it....however, it's a drop in the ocean compared to a Burberry, so maybe I should just order it 😂
