Nude tights and open toe sandals

I know this has been asked but ... have a wedding on Bank Holiday Monday and a lovely full skirted 50s type frock to wear.

Shoe options include some very nice white sandals with a small heel (frock is flowery print on white ground). But my legs are not what they once ever were and I think nude tights are needed.

Are those open-toe nude tights an option, or if I'm wearing tights does it have to be a closed shoe?

Shoe suggestions welcome - parameters need to be gettable in a week, suitable to largish (size 41) feet, and not too high (am 5'10 anyway and will be standing up ushering for the ceremony)

You can get nude tights that are open toe. They have a toe loop which is usually hidden by a sandal. Available from places like John Lewis.

Teardropexplodes · 21/05/2017 10:17

Personally I think either closed toes or fake tan. Those toe loop tights look a bit strange.

SailAwaySailAwaySailAway · 21/05/2017 10:18

M and S sell nude tights that are very sheer and have a toe loop. They ladder very easily though.

Bluntness100 · 21/05/2017 10:19

I also think closed toe or fake tan, different coloured toes to your legs and feet isn't a good look....

Iliketeaagain · 21/05/2017 10:19

What about micro fishnet tights - I think I last got mine in Primark.

Looks nude, but without the obvious seem on the toe.

Rubyslippers7780 · 21/05/2017 10:20

Found some...toeless tights

Maudlinmaud · 21/05/2017 10:21

I would go for a tan with open toes. Tights just don't look right. You know you can get fab tan just for legs to airbrush imperfections. It's in a can. I like b bold. Vita liberate do one just for legs too my friend was raving about it but I haven't tried it yet.

Maudlinmaud · 21/05/2017 10:22

Vita liberata ffs auto correct

SailAwaySailAwaySailAway · 21/05/2017 10:22

Sally Hansen leg make up is a better bet than fake tan. If you balls it up you can wash it off and try again. It goes on really well.

Alexandra87 · 21/05/2017 10:24

Either fake tan and open toes or closed toe with tights. Those toe loop tights look weird

RustyBear · 21/05/2017 10:24

I wore open toed shoes at my nephew's wedding on Friday, and I looked at the open toed tights (M&S do them) but I hate toepost sandals, so I went for their autograph bare invisible sheer toe ones instead.

I really don't think anyone was looking closely enough at my toes to worry about it, and if they were, I wouldn't give a damn for the opinion of anyone who was idiot enough to judge.

boolifooli · 21/05/2017 10:29

They're not 'nude' they're Caucasian.

SailAwaySailAwaySailAway · 21/05/2017 10:32

You're thinking of a particular shade of nude.
Any shade is nude if it matches whatever skin is undeneath. Perhaps sheer is a better description.

TheForgetfulCat · 21/05/2017 10:48

Thanks for the speedy advice! And yes, I take the point re 'nude'. Aim is for very sheer/invisible tights, and the shade of the particular leg in question is Caucasian.

Not sure this is the time to experiment with fake tan but the make up sounds interesting. Will investigate!

Sally Hansen is great. Absolutely stays put till you wash it off with soap. For the very best finish use a fake tan mitt but tbh hands are fine.

BettySmut · 21/05/2017 10:52

I was just coming on to recommend the Sally Hansen leg make up but I see SailAway got there before me! It's incredible stuff, lasts all day, doesn't run if it gets wet and hides a multitude of sins.

Maudlinmaud · 21/05/2017 10:54

Qvc have vita liberata body blur for £25 and there is a little demo video on the site.
That's the stuff my friend was talking about.

SesameSparkle · 21/05/2017 11:19

Another vote here for open toe tights. I've done it with a 50s style big skirt in the past and it's looked fine.

LaLegue · 21/05/2017 11:21

I think if you really can't go without tights then wear closed shoes. Nude toeless tights don't work or fool the eye and can just end up looking look daft.
