your best ideas for spa-at-home?!

I've been watching a lot of film noir and it's reminded me of being a teenager and playing with hair and makeup and motivated me to take some time out of the day today and do a bit of at-home-spa, that and I found a few rogue chin hairs that made me feel the opposite of film noir glamour glamour!

I've googled and so far have the following list but I'd love to know if you have any recommendations. I'm only using products I already own!

A walk in the sun and fresh air
Huge jug of lemon water
Shower scrub
hair mask
teeth whitening strips
taking time over body moisturiser
facial steam
facial mud mask
foot wrap (I don't have plastic wrap sadly! any ideas?)
A "moisture bomb tissue mask"
facial oil massage
Fake tan
Nails

I don't like face scrubs but I do have a gentle (b. revealed) glycolic cleansing peel that I'm considering throwing into the mix.

Any other ideas????

I like to have a long bath with some drift away oil by temple spa, the smell is so relaxing and put on some nice music. Cleanse then face pack while i soak in bath. Also for feet, a foot pack from bodycare

dudsville · 21/05/2017 11:53

I thought about a bath Unicorn, I have oils and salts, but I want to use those scrub gloves and it's not as nice or easy doing that in the tub!

Looks like I'm otherwise on my own with this list. I've had the lovely walk so here's to the rest!

You need a nice candle! I have a towelling headband I got free with some Chanel skincare stuff and that always makes me feel more spa like. Also bought a waffle dressing gown which I only use for my spa nights

I'm just going to finish my own thread and write into the void.

I'm sitting here waiting for finger nails to dry, with feet well oiled (used up the last of an old tube of that 8 hour gel that stinks but is so soothing!) and wrapped each one up in a plastic bag. My hair mask is still on - might just wash it out tomorrow! My skin so soft and shiny and my face has a complexion I haven't seen in a while. I added a nice lunch followed by a bunch of vitamins I never use. It's taken about 3 hours all done but what a treat!

Oooh , I quite fancy the idea of Spa @Home but not in my house (I'd have to clean the bathroom after )

I've never fancied the idea of a proper spa (I had a spray tan last year and TBH, its not something I'd go for again)

I would book into a Premier Inn with DD (she loves her cosmetics and toilettries)

Take a luxe shower gel , bath gel, body moisture (I bought the Aldi one , Oat. Dead easy to use and £2 so cheaper than the Vaseline brand)

I'd do the St Tropez in shower (because I'd have the bathroom pretty much to myself if DD was painting her toenails or something ) I could shower, get out , faff about in front of the mirror .

The non-glam but essential wax/epilate would need done beforehand.

Face mask
Hair mask
Body scrub before the St Tropez

Might do a night away to do shopping (been planning this a while) so probably late Nov , near a big shopping area , that we can drive to.

Trough a huge breakfast then drive home. Grin

My most Spa-Like recent effort was filing my heels, rubbing on some SteamCream and wearing socks overnight. Oh, the high life !

70 I have to have a few nights on my own in a hotel in a few weeks and wasn't looking forward to it but now I think I'll do spa stuff :thank you for the idea!

Oh man I want to do this now!

Sounds like such a great dad dud

Jaimx86 · 22/05/2017 21:26

If you want to invest in a product for the long term, I recommend an accupressure mat. I use mine every day - feel sooo relaxed within minutes of using it. www.salveo.co.uk/salveo-acupressure-mat-inc-bag-green-medium.html

I invested in a jacuzzi bath.

It's heavenly.

I slap on some face mask and hair conditioner and could stay in for hours....

Judydreamsofhorses · 22/05/2017 21:45

I do a bit of a spa at home every Friday. I finish work early, remove finger and toenail polish, then have a massive bath. I use a clay face mask and a hair mask in the bath, shave, then shower and do fake tan (just the Dove gradual one). After that I do a hydrating mask, put on fresh pyjamas, and then pedicure and manicure. DP cooks dinner, a few glasses of wine later on, then bed - I have been known to turn down nights out for my Friday night ritual!

Judydreamsofhorses · 22/05/2017 21:46

(Oh, just to clarify, we all finish early on a Friday at my work, I don't specifically sneak off to titivate.)

Sparklyuggs · 22/05/2017 22:11

Judy that sounds lovely Smile

ChishandFips33 · 23/05/2017 00:32

What a great idea

I bought hot and cold stones after visiting a spa and having this treatment

Now looking at the acupressure mats!

dudsville · 23/05/2017 21:16

That s a great idea Judy! You do it weekly? I think I could do that of a Sunday evening... set myself up for the week!

Chishandfips, how will you do your own hot and cold stones?

OP posts:
Judydreamsofhorses · 23/05/2017 22:35

Every week without fail duds. It kind of takes the week off and sets me up for the weekend. That said, I'm off for seven weeks in the summer - lecturer - and even without the working week my Friday nights are sacred.

ChishandFips33 · 24/05/2017 05:59

Ah, good point - was forgetting you'd be in your own! Doh!

It's obvious I'm not yet in to self oampering!

Destinysdaughter · 24/05/2017 11:15

Korean sheet masks are lovely!

changingmylifecompletely28489 · 24/05/2017 11:21

On Saturdays when I'm alone I do as follows:

Before: feet mask, hair in a bun, glass of rosé

-LONG BATH! When I bought a jacuzzi I remember I told myself "Jesus changing, this is ridiculously expensive!!!" But now I think it's been the best investment ever

Jo Malone peony candle or a handmade one with coffee & cinnamon (i make candles but only for myself)

Cleansing my face, face mask from Guinot, facial scrub from Guinot, toner & face cream

Coffee body scrub

Hands peeling

Coffee scented shower gel from Yves Rocher (can't recommend it enough!!!)

& then cuticle oil, body oil, hand cream & fabulous book! Omg, looking forward to Saturday, def not going out!!!

humanfemale · 24/05/2017 19:30

I'm in the bath right now doing this exact thing! Had a shit nights sleep last night and also just feeling a bit crap so I've taken myself off to:

Hot bath
Double cleanse
Trim nails
Charcoal pore unblocking peel off face mask (genius)
Paint nails
Lumea (boring bit)
Serum
Coconut oil everywhere
Rich moisturiser on top
Ped egg
Cup of tea
Toast
Apple wedges with almond butter
The American Office

dudsville · 26/05/2017 05:33

Changingmylife, I didn't know there were feet masks. And what is hand peeling. I'll Google add have time to go to the shop today.

That's a shame Chish!

That sounds great Human!

Thanks all for your ideas. I'm going to stuck up and establish a routine!
