It's just fucking awful.

Cremolafoam · 23/05/2017 07:05

Oh God. Utter horror. SadSadSad

IDismyname · 23/05/2017 07:23

Awful, awful news...

There were lots of children there. It breaks my heart. Sad

MsMartini · 23/05/2017 07:23

OH god those poor families

magimedi · 23/05/2017 07:31

I have no words for the horror.

Montypulciano · 23/05/2017 07:32

It is so very sad. Those poor people. Just the sort of event we'd have taken the kids to as a treat and they would have been so excited and counting the days. It's just terrible.

NUFC69 · 23/05/2017 07:32

I am just stunned: all those poor people and youngsters. Horrendous.

Blackduck · 23/05/2017 07:44

Utter bastards. Sad

Rosenspants · 23/05/2017 08:02

What a thing to wake up to. Those poor, poor people, and their families.

Cremolafoam · 23/05/2017 10:10

Feel q sick thus morning at work. We have a big concert today.Sad
Even though people here v stoic in face of violence, it has shaken us.

Rosenspants · 23/05/2017 12:22

Gosh Crem the repercussions are so huge. DD has three gigs booked in various venues if the nest couple of months as past of her birthday present. This is what terror does to us.

CointreauVersial · 23/05/2017 13:10

Very upset about Manchester....so much worse when you think "that could have been my DDs". I have a particular horror of something like that happening when I'm not there to lead them out of danger (not that I'd be any less likely to be caught up in things.....but you know what I mean). Those poor families. Sad

I thought of you, Crem, in your (current) role. Flowers

And don't diss Bournemouth. It's where DH and I struck up our romance. We used to go there on business quite a lot, and engineered various "encounters"; our first date was in a restaurant there. Although our first kiss took place on the escalator at Bond Street Tube Station, which we re-enact every time we are there, while the DCs make vomitty faces behind us.

Rosenspants · 23/05/2017 14:38

We went to Bournemouth year in and year out for quite a few years as kids...we loved it but that was back in 60s and 70s. Has it gone downhill?

bigTillyMint · 23/05/2017 15:25

CV Grin at vomity faces!

Some of my relations live just outside Bourmmouth and they love it.

Going to see David Tennant tonight - hope I can keep awake!

motherinferior · 23/05/2017 15:32

Mr Tennant can lull me to sleep any time he wants to, personally.

FlipflopsOrWellieboots · 23/05/2017 16:56

Dh's whole family live in Bournemouth (though none originally from there) so that's enough encouragement not to go there often Smile

I've spent the day with an elderly relative who has just moved into a residential home....I think we need to make Crepey Towers a reality, as I'm really not sure even the loveliest home is right for me....Sad the only benefit is that she parks her little car right outside reception and she drives out every day! She drove us to the pub for lunch.... not bad for 92 Grin

Stropperella · 23/05/2017 18:02

Have never liked Bournemouth; never gonna like Bournemouth. Sorry. Grin But then I'm quite happy to say each to their own and all that. I couldn't live in London either. If I had only myself to worry about, I'd live in a shack in the middle of nowhere. Smile

Stropperella · 23/05/2017 18:05

Have just spent the drive home from work unwisely listening to the news and have been having to fight back the tears. It's just so sad. Where is it all going?

NUFC69 · 23/05/2017 18:10

I feel almost guilty that we have had such a lovely day at Alnwick Gardens with DGD, particularly when I had an email from a friend telling me that her niece was at the concert in Manchester, near to the bomb blast. Fortunately she is one of the lucky ones. I always find it amazing when things like this happen that someone you know knows someone who was involved. What is that saying about degrees of separation?

My nephew and family live in Bournemouth and seem happy there (he's HoD at one of the local comps). We used to go to Christchurch many years ago and liked it there.

CointreauVersial · 23/05/2017 18:22

Had a long chat with a colleague today - she has tickets to see Ariana Grande at the weekend (O2?). She and her friend were going to drop their DDs off, go off for a bite to eat, then collect them at the end of the evening. She said, even if lightning doesn't strike twice, how is anyone going to enjoy dancing and singing along to that concert? It may of course be cancelled.

Cremolafoam · 23/05/2017 19:10

Cv id tell them keep an eye on the Arianna Grande website for updates.
I suspect they may pull the show, or postpone it. It certainly would be sensitive of them to do so.

Dsis was at the Dublin concert with my niece last weekend. i have gone on snd on about venues not being unpaid babysitters ( personal bug bear) so she always goes with her ( under 16) lot to gigs.

We had an elderly audience in today. It would have taken 20-25 minutes to clear the venue because of the various walking issues. Just been thinking about that all day in a state of heart attack inducing anxiety. Sad

Waf!! Please come back. We love you mate!!

MsMartini · 23/05/2017 19:30

It is hard isn't it. Such a sad day.

Crem, must be very draining to have to have those possibilities whirring round all day in such a direct in your face way. And your job doesn't need to be any more stressful.

Where I volunteer had an evacuation when I was on duty recently - I didn't know right away it was not an emergency and it was hard to keep smiling (am in uniform) and make (tiny) decisions. Hats off to those who manage those sorts of situations, I would be terrible at it.

CV, like the kissing story.

magimedi · 23/05/2017 19:36

What upset me today was driving along the Eastbourne sea front and the flag at the bandstand was at half mast.

I had to pull over as I was in floods, as was DH.

I've lived through lots of appalling incidents, but today's got me most as it was aimed at children.

I am glad I am old.....................

bigTillyMint · 24/05/2017 07:49

Had an upkifkitng night out with friends last night at Don Juan. David Tennant was really good - who knew he could sing and dance! MrsK, if you havent already been, its right up your street Grin

Rosenspants · 24/05/2017 08:31

I'm gutted I couldn't get tickets for that BTM Envy Envy Are there any tickets around...have the put on extra dates?I think all actors need to be able to sing and dance and do everything these days.We forget about their training.

I am having a S&B crisis...suddenly I have no summer clothes I feel comfortable in. The first week of SW went well and I lost 4 lbs but I am not ready for anything even vaguely summery. And I haven't had a pedi because my beauty care regime has gone to pot. So no sandals allowed. I badly need some tops..and I like them long but not clingy or boxy, so not many around.
