Vamp Masquerade

My friend is getting married and doing a Vamp Masquerade theme.
What does that actually mean? I'm thinking of something like this but not sure.. is it too sexy?
I don't want to spend a huge amount as it's something I'm unlikely to wear again apart from maybe Halloween.

I can't help you other than to say I think you're on the money with the dress (which is gorgeous!)

It's very sexy but then I don't think you can have a 'Vamp Masquerade' and expect people to turn up in twinsets and pearls!

SapphireSeptember · 21/05/2017 10:10

Yes! Where did you find that dress? I love it!

MrsBadger · 21/05/2017 10:12

That's lovely, but I'd dress up a more generic dress I'd be likely to wear again - perhaps basic strapless evening dress in a dark colour with, I don't know, long gloves and a mask and a black lace bolero?

LadyOfTheCanyon · 21/05/2017 10:34

I now want this dress so much, but being short and dumpy know damn fine that I will look like Mrs Miggins in it, rather than a deathly pale Venetian harlot. shakes fist at an uncaring God

TheDropBear · 21/05/2017 10:35

They're lovely dresses and the shape is good but I get more of a steam punk vibe than vampire. Think it's the leather/buckles/little hat.

I'd go more gothic; dress with a corseted waist and big skirt, dark colours. Lots of lace or possibly silk or velvet. Arms covered in some way so either sleeves or long gloves. Don't worry about looking too sexy, vamp masquerade as a theme screams sexy Grin.

readyforno2 · 21/05/2017 13:32

I have an underbust corset already and considered a skirt like this.. would that be better? It's so difficult to work out. Think I might call my friend and ask them to be more specific.
I know what you are saying MrsB, I'm just not very good at this kind of thing. I don't really own any evening dresses so would have to buy something anyway

Which dress do you all mean? The brown in ore the teal one? I found them both on Pinterest

I love your first brown dress. Yes it's sexy and etc., what pps have said. I'm not familiar with this theme but I think if it's not your usual dress style then you will be out of pocket and might as well go for it as best you're able. If it were me I would definitely double check and ask for ideas so that I could make a confident arrival on the day (Bridget jones?). I'd also avoid black as I'd assume it was a bit obvious and there will be ots of it. And velvet perhaps?

readyforno2 · 21/05/2017 15:02

Another friend and I have made a pact (just in case of the Bridget Jones scenario) we're gonna go with the same kinda thing.
To be honest, I will spend up to about £80. I have other dresses I have bought for weddings and not worn again. At least I can get a Halloween out of it too!

Ok, that one is £88. Close enough to £80??

OP posts:
readyforno2 · 21/05/2017 15:09

Just found it for £64.99!!

I think you should wear your corset with an evening skirt- a really full one, full length.

Then do vampy make up and nails, headpiece of some sort, maybe a mask on a stick.

You will probably wear the evening skirt again. Don't get a wacky one, and you can pair it with a different top for a more sophisticated look for another event.
