Make up disaster - does anyone know if Boots will help?

I saw a new No.7 product that I thought sounded like what I was looking for. My local small Boots didn't have it in stock or have any testers but I spoke to the No7 advisor and she ordered it for me to collect in store.
I questioned her about the shade and she advised me on which to go for. It only comes in 2 shades and I was undecided between light and medium and she felt medium would be better.
I collected it yesterday and it is a disaster. The shade is way too dark for me. I also don't think the makeup is great. It is supposed to be sheer but it is very patchy looking. I usually like No7 makeup.
Is it worthwhile taking it back now that I have opened it?

Absolutely, take it back and say it is not good enough. I would, especially as you were advised on shade by their staff.

I didn't get around to taking it back til today. It was a different NO.7 advisor today and she was very helpful. She allowed me to change to a better shade in a different No.7 product with no hassle.
Excellent customer service.
