SLS / Paraben free shampoo for highlighted hair?

Today I had my hair highlighted for the first time. The hairdressers were all delighted to get their hands on my 'virgin hair' . I've now got lovely balyaged blonde hair rather than dull mousy locks and having spent a fortune on it, want to keep it that way.

I usually pick up whatever shampoo is on offer in Sainsburys or latterly, the cheapo faux-brands from Aldi. According to the hairdresser using a shampoo like this will strip the toner that was applied after the bleach and make it go lighter quicker, which I'm a bit scared about! I wasn't scared enough to fork out for the Aveda stuff in the salon but think I need to get my hands on a decent shampoo PDQ.

Any recommendations, please?

I use Aveda and Morrocanoil shampoo and conditioner, whichever one I feel like of a morning. Both are colour safe and SLS free. I don't use them for the reasons you are though, I had highlighted hair for years and dyed blonde hair for years and used £2/bottle Herbal Essences and was fine.
The only reason I'm using the £20/bottle stuff now is that I have extreme bleach damage.

I highly recommend Palmers Cocoa Butter Moisture Shampoo & Conditioner - its about £4 a bottle in Boots / Superdrug. I started using it a few months ago after having a Brazilian blow dry and colour. Smells lovely!

I recommend the Holland and Barrett range, they have all different types depending on what your hair needs, but all free of the nasties.

Look up www.purenuffstuff for sls free shampoo and conditioner. It's not expensive either.

Palmers Coconut Oil Repairing shampoo is under a fiver from Superdrug and is free from sulfate, paraben, silicone and mineral oil.

I use it for my wavy/curly hair, as SLS makes my curls frizzy.

It lathers nicely unlike some SLS free shampoo.

If you are using a conditioner with silicone in (any ingredient ending in 'cone) you might get a build up of silicone (plastic) in your hair, so you might want to combine the SLS free shampoo with a silicone free conditioner for best results.

Check out the Maria Nila range online. Amazing products and free of absolutely everything. My hair is in the best condition ever despite bleach damage.

Milton Keynes had quite a few left when I was there stocking up yesterday

I had a total panic when in Sainsburys today that I needed something to use in the morning so got the only SLS/paraben free stuff I could see which was Happy Naturals Macademia Oil. £4 a bottle for shampoo and conditioner so will give it a whirl and report back if it seems any good!

I don't get this. Your hair will go yellow, not lighter. If you use a purple toned shampoo, it will cancel out the yellow, and that will make your hair appear lighter.

"Light" is the goal, surely?

Loreal ever pure range! They do various types including a version for coloured hair. It is becoming increasingly difficult to find though! My local boots and tesco no longer seem to stock it, but superdrug always seems to have it on offer for half price or bogof. Think it's £6.99 a bottle? And it comes in a big pink squeezey tube.
