Hair dye clearance

I bought a box of L'Oréal Prodigy hair dye today in the clearance from Boots.
The same colour is still full price on their website so it can't be in clearance because it's a discontinued colour, which I originally presumed due to their being no full priced boxes of the colour in store.

Why else would Boots have sold it in the clearance? I'm worried now as DM has just told me its probably past it's best before date, is that even a thing with dye Hmm
I've already applied it and am just waiting for it to be ready to wash out, but I'm panicking in case it turns my hair a funny colour if theirs something wrong with it Confused

I think they actually have use by dates printed on the bottle. They be selling them off due to changes in packaging, or maybe they are overstocked? I often find things reduced in various stores that are full price online.

Oh I hopes it's been reduced for something like that and not because there's something wrong with it like DM reckons.
Well I'm about to wash it out now so fingers crossed it turns out ok

It should be fine. As far as I know it reacts with oxygen anyway so should have a very long shelf life when stored correctly.

Well I don't know if it's because there was anything wrong with the dye or if it's just not a great product, but it did nothing to my hair.

I was going from a dark mousy blonde to a much lighter blonde and it literally looks the same as before but with a bit more shine Hmm
Oh well, at least it didn't turn it green or make it fall out or something Grin
