Laser resurfacing

Has anyone had laser resurfacing? What did you have it for, and what were the results?

My skin is in decent condition overall, but I've noticed that the area under my eyes has developed a weird texture and some discoloration. I also had a small "festoon", particularly on my right side - it's a weird "bump" under the eyes, just over the cheekbone, that looks worse when I smile; it makes me look really tired though it doesn't change, no matter how much sleep I have, how much water or how little salt in my diet, etc., it's pretty fixed and I've had it since I was much younger (I'm 33 now; had it since my 20s or even before). The skin on this area of my face is slightly darker and the texture is a bit rougher than the other areas of skin.

I've been using sunscreen daily and avoiding the sun since I was in my teens, and have used retinoids (Differin and Retin-A) on and off for the past 10-15 years. I also moisturise and use actives like vitamin C etc. So really I don't think that any topical treatment is likely to make a difference and significant improve my skin at this stage. I'm hoping that the laser resurfacing will improve the texture on my cheeks and underyes and minimise the appearance of the festoons (I know laser wont't get rid of them anyway).

So if you had laser resurfacing, would you recommend it? Or would you say it's too extreme for relatively mild to moderate skin problems?

Ooh watching with interest OP as I am starting to wonder if it's the path I want to go down - although my skin concerns are quite different to yours and I am older than you too. Hopefully someone will be along in a minute .....

I've had one session of Paloma laser skin treatment. Now it wasn't for laser resurfacing but to reduce pigmentation through sun damage! So far lots of the newer freckles have gone and my skin is much clearer in that respect. I've two more session yet but I'm impressed so far!

Not sure if that helps at all! Grin

Hi there .

I have had 6 sessions to help reduce my freckles and have to say from my experience I would say it isn't worth the money . I've had much better results from 3 TCA peels .

For the bump, I think a dermatologist would need to remove it. I don't think a laser can fix that. Do you use a good exfoliant regularly? I would try that before laser resurfacing. A good BHA and AHA can do wonders for the skin's texture and overall radiance.
