I wore my normal office clothes in the anticipation that I'd not be picked and would be heading straight to work. When I knew I'd be serving in the jury for at least a week, jeans and a top were fine and seemed to be why most jurors were wearing.

The defence can dismiss selected jurors based only on the information they have about the juror - name, age, address...not based on appearance. I've been selected on 3 juries and the one time I was booted by the Defence was because they were trying to achieve a predominantly male jury for a rape trial. The same happened on another jury I was selected for but I made the cut that time and was one of only 3 women on the jury (child abuse case Sad )

Which country are you in? In England and Wales, this wouldn't happen. It would be impermissible to try to get a woman off a jury because you wanted a male jury.

Challenge for cause and prosecution stand by powers are very rarely used and very restricted. Jurors really only get removed if they have a bias reason (know a defendant or witness) or fail security checks in terrorist cases- so for example in a corporate manslaughter case involving a company that is a big regional employer, a jury might be asked "do you or anyone in your family work for the Company?". and if answer yes then get removed.

This is completely different from the system in the USA where jury selection is almost like hand picking a deck of cards.

Hahaha definitely the swag bag! I would like to do jury service it sounds very interesting. (Can they disqualify you for being an expert trained through watching law and order?! Grin)

I've done jury service several times. They care not a jot what you're wearing. Wear the trainers.

Pinstripe suit, briefcase, FT under one arm (if you want to be sent home)

In England it does not happen that you get sent home for what you look like - unless as I said you are wearing abusive slogans or things likely to incite violent (Nazi gear/EDL) - pin stripe suit won't get you sent home.
