I have about 65% grey hair. I have been trying to grow it out so it's completely grey for a while so I don't really want to put a colour on it. At the moment it's very two tone.
I have my sister's wedding soon and I would like it to be "dyed" grey if that's possible. Is it cheeky to ask a salon if this would be possible and what the cost would be without committing to an appointment? Basically, I want a free consultation because I am on a budget and won't be able to make an appointment if cost will be prohibitive.

Of course you can ask what it costs!

Have you thought about going to a local college? Our college is very good, and they do hair dressing and beauty treatments at very low prices.
