Curling Wand/Iron

Please can you ladies recommend the best hair curling tool.

I have fine but thick past shoulder length hair and am crap at staying my hair.

Do I get a wand an Iron or one of the ones with a wind up mechanism?

My hair sounds similar and I'm using the Remington Curl Revolution. It's by far the best thing I've tried.
Takes me about 20 minutes to curl my hair and lasts really well.
I got mine from eBay for £30 as they're about £60 in shops.
