1950's hair and make up

I'm an ice skater and I'm taking part in a little competition at my rink at the end of May. I'm skating to Singing in the Rain and have a gorgeous skating dress - light blue front with lace detail and crystals on the neckline, then two different shades of purple (one medium, one dark) velvet for the rest of the dress. I've also got a spotty, black and white umbrella to twirl 😄

This competition takes costume into account when marking, so I want to get my hair and makeup right. I've got brown hair with blonde highlights which comes to my shoulders, blue-grey eyes, fair skin and wear glasses.

Can anyone help with suggestions? Pinterest just leaves my mind blown, there's so many photos!

Does this page help?

Remember to put on a bit more/make it more dramatic than you would for an "everyday" look because it's stage makeup.

Ah, that link is great, just what I need! Yeah, I've done rink ice shows before, under all sorts of weird lighting, so I'm well versed in stage make up, just not this particular era :)

I really, really like the idea of doing a bright lip. But, not sure about reds. I'm a bit scared of looking like a clown (although have lovely skating friends who wouldn't let me go on ice looking bad). Should I be brave, or go for a brighter pink than normal? I've done coral before and been told I looked nice :)

Also love the idea of super fluttery, mascara laden lashes as I love my eyes and eyelashes Grin
