Barbers for a short cut?

Currently got long hair but due to illness and crapness of hair I'm looking to get it cut short
I don't really want to go to my usual hairdressers as they will persuade me to go for a long Bob or something
Would a barbers do me a crop?
Or, is there a way to do it myself ?

if you're just looking for a crop, I reckon a barber would do it, if you really think your regular hairdresser wouldn't do it for you.
When I had mine done I took in a photo of what I wanted and said "that please" I've got really curly hair and she didn't want to do it but I insisted. It was a new hairdresser though.
I've done it at home with my boyfriend's clippers but it's easy to take too much off!
