Wedding guest outfit - for a field and barn dancing

I've been invited to a wedding at a popular wedding venue, except the couple are only using the grounds/field not the inside of the building. The invite mentions that mud may be involved (UK wedding) and that there will be barn dancing.

What kind of dress would you wear if you needed to switch between shoes and possibly boots/wellies?

Please help!!

I would speak to the bride (or someone close to / involved in the arrangements) and ask for more detail.
Would it be possible to wear something smart to the ceremony and then change afterwards?
Where is the ceremony ?
What are the bride and groom thinking people will wear?
etc
To get a feel for what the plan is.

There has been no rain - there will not be mud! Who would subject their wedding guests to mud! Wear a jump suit and take flats to change into if you need to. The wedding venue will have a web site and they usually have pictures of their tents, barns, fields etc. Or email them asking what shoes guests wear!

I would wear a knee or midi length dress with a big skirt for swishing around as I strip the willow and balance the star

Something like this would be perfect

Olennas - that is gorgeous. I love wrap dresses. Shame it's petite as I'm 5'5.

The wedding is on DP's side of the family and everyone we know on that side is male (except MIL who has an 'unusual' dress sense). We're just going in the evening. The invitation does mention mud though, and the last time I went to the venue for an open day my shoe came off in the mud when walking through the gardens Shock

I will definitely want knee length. Maybe with a vintage feel? DP is thinking of wearing braces Grin!

I've looked on my regular websites and not been inspired (Zara, ASOS, Massimo Dutti, Anthropologie) but I don't use a wide range of online stores because I always forget their name... where else can I try?

Bojoro, if I had to change into flats/boots, I wouldn't feel write in a jumpsuit I don't think.

Does this look too informal for a wedding?
Just to add, people have been invited to camp that evening which again makes me think the dress code will be casual.

I think it is likely to end up mud flecked and grubby...
