Bareminerals Complexion Rescue - any good?

NapoleonsNose · 06/05/2017 18:31

I don't like heavy foundation and usually use a tinted moisturiser. I've been reading good reviews about this online, but before I spend £27, does anyone use it and is it any good? I'm 45, with reasonably good skin and only a few feint lines round my eyes. I usually spend about £10-£15 on a base but haven't yet found anything I really like.

I use it. It's alright. Wouldn't rush to replace it when it runs out. I've got a feeling there was a product test on here a few weeks ago...?

colalight · 06/05/2017 18:39

I love it and its my preferred foundation now.

I use the buttercream one over benefit porefesional primer, with rimmel wake me up concealer and bareminerals all over colour in shade radiance.

NapoleonsNose · 06/05/2017 18:50

I found the product test thread myvoice, thanks. It does seem to have mixed reviews. I have been using Bourjois Citywear but I'm finding it's sitting on my skin, rather than blending in lately. I might hunt round for a discount code and give it a go.

This is timely..
I had a sample of this arrive yesterday. I don't know why.. I don't remember asking for a sample but I as I was actually going out for a drink last night I used it. And it was fantastic. I had enough left in sachet to use today also.
I've ordered it from Boots already. I was a little shocked by how much it is (i checked out as many websites as I could to compare prices) but decided I never treat myself so it's ordered and I'll pick it up next week :)
(Our boots is small and barely stock anything)

Poppiesway1 · 06/05/2017 18:54

Ooh.. maybe I applied to trial it and then got sent a free sample??

Poppiesway1 · 06/05/2017 19:18

I've just discovered it cheaper on here after reading a mn thread!!

TheLittleFoxes · 06/05/2017 19:57

I got a free sample via MN and didn't like it. It went on very nicely but gave my face a pearlescent sheen that doesn't suit someone with fine lines and acne scars - if you have good skin, you might like it.

WhereAreMyTesticlesSummer · 06/05/2017 19:59

I absolutely love it but it's only suitable for non-oily skin that is in pretty great condition as the coverage is minimal but beautifully illuminating and hydrating.

Don't buy it if you want a proper medium-full coverage foundation.

Maudlinmaud · 06/05/2017 20:04

Love it. Bought it today and my trusty favourite ysl. I had a massive splurge Grin. I took part in the product test and really didn't think I would like it as it's marketed as sheer and I prefer coverage but it's buildable and barely detectable on the skin.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 06/05/2017 20:07

I'm tempted.

I don't need a lot of coverage but tan easily and need something lighter in texture but darker in colour than my usual foundation.

A couple of years ago I used up tube of This Works tint something, it was like a gel, but can't find it anymore.

Monkeyface26 · 06/05/2017 20:11

I threw mine in the bin. It takes a lot for me to do that. Normally I would add cover fx drops or powder over with mineral powder foundation if I need to adjust finish or colour but I couldn't do anything with this. It sat in every pore, clung to every dry patch & made my face shiny at the same time. For my normal/dry, ageing skin, it was a real disappointment.

applespearsbears · 06/05/2017 21:09

I got a sample in the post yesterday as well and tried it today, similar age to you and I like it. I thought it would be good for the summer, light and natural looking. I put some NYX transparent powder in my T zone and it's stayed put all day. I didn't know how much it cost though !

AteRiri · 06/05/2017 21:21

It made me itchy.

ItsAYesFromMe · 06/05/2017 21:24

I had a sample of it, tried it and washed it straight off. Couldn't blend it, it sat in my pores and highlighted dry patches but if you have good skin it would probably be ok.
I already have a tried and trusted product that glides on and doesn't sit in my pores but I'd wanted to try the Compexion Rescue for ages. I am super fussy though and I have dry, flaky prone skin so I'm probably not the best candidate for it.

Scrowy · 06/05/2017 21:36

I like it but I do have to mix it with a drop of Vichy Dermablend to cover imperfections. The deal breaker for me is that like Dermablend it is non comedogenic. The Dermablend is too heavy for when my skin is looking ok but using anything lighter would just set of a reaction again so it was a vicious circle.

I've only been using it a week but my skin does feel better, if that continues I hope one day to be able to ditch the Dermablend altogether.

violetbunny · 07/05/2017 07:59

It's nice as a light base but it's not longwearing on oily skin. I only ever wear it at weekends, and opt for a heavier coverage base for work.

mintmagnummm · 07/05/2017 08:17

I hated it and returned it for a refund! It didn't cover ANYTHING looked like I'd applied absolutely nothing but a layer of grease.

N0tfinished · 07/05/2017 08:27

I like it but I have dry skin in reasonable condition. It does have some coverage but I like it for its plumping, hydrating qualities.

I'm on my 3rd tube... would buy again

PurpleNurple69 · 07/05/2017 10:02

I can't get on board with it AT ALL! It separates and goes bitty when I apply it. I'm assuming because it's water based and my other products are silicone based. So do I have to replace all my eye cream, serum and moisturiser with water based versions? Sad

PurpleNurple69 · 07/05/2017 10:04

And it sits in my pores. Do you think I could return it for a refund?

SunshineDeLaSoul · 07/05/2017 10:05

It makes my pores look massive.

mintmagnummm · 07/05/2017 14:34

Purple how long ago did u buy it and do u have receipt?

DameXanaduBramble · 07/05/2017 14:37

I took part in the trial, it made my normally not sensitive skin quite itchy. Didn't like the colour or the finish, wouldn't buy it again.

MrsDoylesTeabags · 07/05/2017 15:10

I don't think it's very good especially for the price, I ended up chucking it out too.
I have oily skin, it made me really shiny and greasy looking and my pores looked huge, I wasn't impressed with the coverage either.
I've used Clinique tinted moisturiser which I much prefer but at the moment I'm using Garnier BB cream for oily skin or Maybelline Matte and Poreless for a bit more coverage, I'm really impressed with both and they're both less than a tenner

PurpleNurple69 · 07/05/2017 17:28

*mintmagnummum - a couple of weeks ago I think. And I very likely do have the receipt. I might go in with it and ask for a lesson.
