i have nipple-ish length hair and have been using various tangle teezers for years now. absolutely loved them when i had pixie-ish hair, but i LOATH them now. they don't seem to do anything for my knots at all, not for what of trying.
any recommendations of hairbrushes, bearing in mind i've been using one without a handle for a good 12+ years now? thanks

Wet brush, they sell them in boots and they are great brushes

On here I've seen the wet brush recommended, you can get it in amazon.
I've got very long hair too and started using argan oil in my hair after I wash it; it's fantastic and no more knots!

Denman ones are good. You can read reviews on Amazon.
Or boar bristle, I got one for Christmas and I was very pleased with it.

Wet brush is fabulous. I prefer it to the Tangle Teezer, as do my 2 Dds, who both have long, thick hair.
