7/8 or 3/4 navy trousers without pockets

I'm looking for navy trousers for work but I am a curvy size 14-16 and carry my weight around my tummy ( like an actual spare tyre). I can't do trousers with pockets on the front as it just emphasises my spare tyre.

I'd like chino type navy trousers but without pockets at the front or on the side. I don't want jersey or ponte fabric as i need to look reasonably smart at work.

I'm always amazed by the clothes you are able to find and was wondering if you would help me out?

I'd also like some of these so I'm jumping in

Have a look at Boden they di a nice pair of trousers without pockets at the sides or front and without belt looks. Really lovely fabric too, I had a pair 2 yrs ago and they are still great! Check out voucher codes before you buy they quite often have 10 - 20% off with a code.

I wear the Boden Richmonds. (Full length, 7/8 and cropped). They DO have side pockets but they are properly stitched up, and I leave them like that. In fact, I think I'd had them a year before I realised they were actual, proper pockets, I thought it was just some stitch detailing. I don't like any added bulk in that area either, and I find they sit really well.

Really interesting about the Boden Richmonds. I had looked at them, but ruled the out because of the pockets.
Are they actually sewn that tightly? as I would pick at them I think! I'm just not sure that the extra fabric from the pocket would just make me look fatter!

Banana republic have nice slim cropped trousers, Think they're called Sloan

Floisme · 06/05/2017 14:55

Cos do these which fasten at the side and, I'm fairly sure, have no front pockets. I've not tried them myself but I've looked at them a few times online as quite a few posters really rate them.

Iamastonished · 06/05/2017 15:05

Are these any good?

Onthehighseas · 06/05/2017 15:07

The Richmond pockets are completely sewn up and dont add any bulk.

The richmonds are lovely quality and very flattering fabric as it doesn't cling. But the fit was awful on me as I also carry weight now in my middle. I couldn't get my bum into them and to them up. Or in the next size up they were massive on my hips. If they fit you, they will be perfect in every other way.

FatGirlWithChocolate · 06/05/2017 15:25

Next have a nice pair, very flattering..don't know if they have pockets though.

Those next ones do have pockets as do the m&s ones! Grr. Can't get the Cos link to work but will investigate those and the Banana Republic ones. Thanks. I suspect i may struggle with the Boden fit but will order them and see.
Tried some on in Phase 8 this afternoon but they had a silly little cut out on the back of the leg which I hated!!

Sorry op, I'll try the link in full. www.cosstores.com/gb/Women/Trousers/Slim-fit_trousers/46887-60205873.1#c-302256#Rel?PC=

If it still doesn't work, they're called 'slim fit trousers' and they're in black, navy and green

fredabear · 06/05/2017 18:47

blue H&M

fredabear · 06/05/2017 18:48

blue h&m

fredabear · 06/05/2017 18:49

Grr! Try h&m cigarette trousers

KatherinaMinola · 06/05/2017 19:00

I have last year's version of these M&S ones. They are pretty good - look a lot more expensive than they were.

itsmeitskathee · 07/05/2017 09:13

Thanks Freda, those H & M ones look ok although I wonder if they will be skin tight but i might order and try.
This M&S ones have pockets just where I don't want them. I had similar from Marks two years ago (without pockets) but they are pretty washed out now.

Floisme - thanks for the Cos link. I think the ones without pockets are too tight really for work with my tummy - they almost look legging like. However I love their cropped chinos and am wondering about getting them and having the pockets sewn up
( in the same way as the Boden Richmonds are). What the sizing like at Cos?

jeaux90 · 07/05/2017 09:53

Ok so I just bought the richmonds and the pockets come sewn up. I have undone them and they don't stick out. Happy with them.

I also bought the french connection tight ones (with the good side zip) they are skinny they hold everything in, no side pockets. I'm a 12 and the10 fitted. Love them bought the black and navy

Floisme · 07/05/2017 10:15

itsme Really sorry but I'm still wrestling with Cos sizing myself and I've only tried their tops/jumpers so not sure what to advise. I'm 8-10 and so far, I've fitted XS in their tops and find the cut can be quite generous. But trousers are another ballgame entirely. It might be worth starting a thread to ask as I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will come along. The chinos do look good - I've pondered them myself.
