I've had highlighted hair for about 20 years. However, since childbirth my hair has deteriorated in health and I decided to make the plunge and go back to my original hair colour (mousey brown - medium brown) by getting a semi permanent hair colour put on. I opted for a an expensive well recommended salon as I thought I could trust them to do a good job however it's dreadful, far too dark and even has hints of red in which I specifically said I didn't want. What can I do apart from wash it every day or hide indoors!

Put on your big girl pants, call them, tell them you are unhappy and ask them to fix it. I've just had to do the same! It's embarrassing but worth it. Just think of the amount of money you paid.

Poor you I do sympathise but as the last poster said - phone or email them and say it is not what you asked for and hopefully they will ask for the chance to sort it out for you. It is embarrassing I know but their reputation is on the line at the end but of the day.
Recently I tried a different salon to my usual one and the girl made a real hash of my hair cut and highlights. I washed my hair the next morning to try and see if I could make it look a bit better but it was horrible. I phoned and said I wasn't happy at all and they were offered me an appointment with a senior stylist to sort it out. Anyway she agreed it was a bad cut and colour so managed to make it look better and sorted the colour for me. Not sure I'll use them again though...

Thanks for your replies. I did in fact phone, four hours later my hair is looking a lot better, they offered to put a full head of highlights on my hair to brighten it, I'm sure it won't help the condition of my hair but at least I feel I can go out now without a hat!

haha i was going to suggest washing powder and head and shoulders or baby shampoo.

red fades really quick and they have to put it in to stop the blonde going khaki (if my memory serves me right).

glad they made it feel better. a good treatment will take care of any damage. kerastace cement is good for damaged hair.
