Curling tongs with a big barrel

I've been struggling manfully on with my steampod and a slim barrelled tong thing -that I've had so long you practically have to wind it up- for TOO LONG. Half the time I look deranged, the rest of the time I just look like I haven't done my hair properly.

what I want is big bouncy curls. I have past shoulder length fine hair and I think I need a simple curling tong but with a big barrel. Google is just confusing me now with wave this and Argan infused the other.

What do you lot use, oh magnificently tressed MNers? Smile

I have a Babyliss large barrel curling tongs almost identical to this which is really great. I have short quite fine hair (now silver, I'm 70!) and this gives super results.

Nanthwiser I have that and it doesn't work on my long thick waist length hair or my daughters shoulder length thick hair or my other daughters waist length thin hair. I just gives a limp wave on us all unfortunately.

Op i have only ever got big bouncy curls from rollers.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 05/05/2017 16:28

See that Babyliss looks like the sort of thing I'm after, and I'm willing to spend more than that, so that could be a result! ( or at least not a costly disaster)

Hm I'm going for the measuring tape as I think nan's one is bigger than mine!

NanTheWiser · 05/05/2017 17:18

It has a 38mm barrel, which is larger than most.

FadedRed · 05/05/2017 17:28

I have the 'smaller'large barrel Babyliss and it is very good, but don't discount heated rollers, Op, the curls last longer and the rollers are IMO easier to use.

Not a euphemism. Wink

Watched a live streaming thingy via Glossybox on the new Cloud Nine big barrel out today. It literally looks amazing. At £99.99 it's a big purchase but am sure the YouTube tutorial may convince you ... Ordered mine today and my hair sounds v v similar to yours

My best friend got married last year and got curly updo like newaylook.com/best-cute-updos-for-short-long-hair/ She has been using Herstyler Grande tongs www.ebay.co.uk/bhp/herstyler-curling-wand . They take a bit of practice as you have to wind the hair round with your hand (supplied with heatproof glove), but they are very effective-the curls stay in well. They also make my hair shiny. Not cheap but worth the money (£55 )

I have thick hair that wouldn't hold a wave let alone a curl until I bought a wand. I can sleep in sanded curls and they survive! You just use bigger sections of hair for bigger curls. I think mine is babylis or Remington

nevernotstruggling · 06/05/2017 19:22

It's a Remington pearl

Have you looked at Ghd? They do a 32mm one: Ghd soft curling tong I've got the smaller version for my hair (26mm) and it's brilliant - heats up really quickly and the curls last for a couple of days on me.
