Tights with a black party dress?

Hi,

I'm going to a 40th party this weekend and have a black lacy, long sleeved dress to wear, which comes to just above the knee.
I'm just wondering what tights I should wear? Presuming I should wear tights! But would you wear opaque (heavy?) sheer black (80's?) or nude? I don't go out much

I tend to wear sheer nude with a hint of shimmer. New look do them.

I'm fully prepared to be told that's naff though.

This is the thing, I remember wearing those nude shiny tights and saw a photo of myself where my legs looked like plump shiny sausages 😆 I'm sure they've probably come on a bit since then though...

Get some Sally Hasen leg make-up. Literally changed my life! It gives you perfect Barbie legs and doesn't transfer.

Pretty Polly do a really fine pair of tights. I think they're called "nearly naked" or something. They're the only ones I can find that don't look shiny or are 3 shades too dark for my skin. You can usually get them in Boots. Careful if you have long nails though!

Bare legs or nude tights.

I always think that Princess Diana should have worn nude tights with that black lace cocktail dress.

That narrows it down then, nude or bare. You're right about Princess Diana, especially as that was a sleeveless dress.
