Has anyone bought the Boden slim jeans...or are there any other flattering dark denim straight cuts out there?

Hi, have begun to feel frumpy in my boot cuts, would like some straighter cut but really dark denim jeans for spring. Would like a lightweight denim in a really dark blue with a bit of stretch in it. Saw some nice Great Plains ones in a local shop (in size 8 ) but they are not on the website. The Boden ones look OK but not sure. I'm 5'8" and a size 14 bottom half (but getting smaller!)

Can't find link to shoes - they are by Jaime Mascaro - lovely spanish brand, originally set up in 1918 to make ballet shoes, I've discovered! They are classic ballet pumps but encrusted with gold glitter and very sparkly. dd loves 'em!

The shoes are from Stella B, next to Ed, and is fab. Love their stuff.

I bought a pretty jersey summer dress from ED this week in a red and white print.

are they non-lycra? must admit i tried a pair of skinny jeans on recently and sadly came away with the knowledge that bootcuts are much better for fat arse

CODalmighty · 16/03/2007 14:03

well?
any uprate

Aloha · 17/03/2007 08:53

They arrived and.... they are really lovely! Very flattering, much more so than my boot-cuts, and leg-lengthening. They are more straight than skinny, stretchy but not too stretchy and a lovely dark indigo. However, I think the 14 is a little big on me (HOORAY!)as I can take them off really easily without undoing the zip or buttons and the long is a bit too long for flats, though would be great with heels. am thinking of reordering a 12 (unthinkable!).

aloha have you been dieting???

AuldAlliance · 17/03/2007 11:19

Boden sizing seems to be getting bigger and bigger, like many other brands.
I find I now need an 8 in their trousers. There is no way I'm an 8, not now that my mate the muffin has moved in. It's a real PITA this trend, as I never know what size to order, my actual size or the "flattering" smaller size that won't fall off or bag out around the hips and bum.

CODalmighty · 17/03/2007 13:55

hmm how high in the waist

Aloha · 19/03/2007 16:32

Not high waisted a la Simon Cowell, Cod. Normal low rise, like Gap.

As for being super-huge...well, a girl could take offence at that!
In fact, Boden sizes are almost identical to French Connection, only cut for smaller waists and bigger breasts - Boden 12 - 36 1/4 in, 28 3/4in, 39in
FC 35.5in, 29in, 39in.

Aloha · 19/03/2007 21:21

I've been wearing the longs with a slight turn up with ballet flats, but have ordered another pair in regular to wear with flats - but in a free returns deal in case they are ankle swingers .
