Help with jacket/cardi for formal event

I'm attending a dinner later this week, and will be wearing a dark blue skater style dress with black dots on. It fits me well and I'll feel comfortable, but it is sleeveless. Whilst I'm not worried about exposing my arms per se, I do think I might be a bit chilly. Does anyone have any suggestions of something I could pick up in the next day or two, assuming I have access to most high street shops in all price brackets...

I'm not sure whether I need a jacket, a cardi, some other kind of cover-up? What do people where for this purpose? What would be up-to-date and versatile enough to wear again?

FWIW I am a short size 10, the dress is fit and flare and relatively short, so longer jackets might not work??

'What do people wear...' of course.

Is the dinner a reasonably casual event or more formal? How about a biker jacket, fitted short cardigan or fitted short jacket?

It's a dinner where the men will all be in suits - either short fitted cardigan or jacket would probably be OK, as long as relatively light-weight.

I would wear something like this - bolero from Hobbs.

I have got this one which I like.

Ah merci. I think Coast or Hobbs will have me covered those are exactly the sort of thing I was thinking of (but I don't normally look in those places).
