Help me find a dress for a wedding

My best friend is (finally) marrying his partner on the 10th anniversary of their civil partnership. It'll be smart / formal in the day and then, joy of joys, changing to black tie (ideally long) for the evening.

I'm currently struggling to feel anything other than hideous about how I look as a medical condition and the related treatment means I've gone from a size 14 size 18.

Please help me find two outfits - probably dresses. I'm tall (5'10") and don't like to go shorter than on the knee. My tummy is out of proportion - a good size bigger than my waist. Chest is also big so I need a scoop or v-neck. Skater / prom style probably suit me best at the moment.

I have lots of shoes, bags, hats etc so I "just" need the main part of the outfit. Total budget about £250

Oh, wedding is late June but all indoors in venue where I am also staying the night before and after so no need to worry about extremes of weather (no air con though.....)

Hi, you sound a very similar shape to me and I have just been hunting for a wedding guest dress. I currently have 5 dresses on order from John Lewis and I'm going to have trying on session and see which fits. They are from phase 8, Adrianna papelle and Fenn wright Manson. You have a bigger budget than I do though.

I was going to link to my recent wedding outfit but it was really really cheap so didn't but how about a 50's style? lady V london or Lindybop for ideas?

I can vouch for this as a good dress for your size/shape. I wore it in navy to my sister's wedding last year.

If you are in London, I thoroughly recommend going to their shop www.revival-retro.com/ The ladies there are incredible at finding something that fits and are good at challenging your perceptions of yourself. They've put me in lots of things I wouldn't otherwise consider.

Thank you. I like the look of that shop - and will be in London. In a couple of weeks so will definitely look.

The (top) budget of £250 is for two outfits.
