Mathildes Verden

I don't dress that dis-similarly to her, but she is the cats meow as far as I'm concerned. So excited to have found her. I know this style is very Scandi, but it's how I like to dress. Such a shame I'm on a no spend discipline at the moment!

Who's style Do you like?

I was just looking at this. I am looking for a tunic and trousers outfit for a 21st birthday.

lotusbomb · 01/05/2017 07:02

She's over a decade older than me but when I grow up I want to be like
Tracee Ellis Ross. I adore her style!

Destinysdaughter · 01/05/2017 09:23

V elegant and flattering clothes, lovely!

Floisme · 01/05/2017 09:38

Oh God, mine change all the time as, when it comes to dressing, I have the constancy of a peanut. But at the moment, it's Katharine and Hepburn and Heloise Letissier.

(Take note, by the way, that socks and trousers are fine together. Miss Hepburn says so.)

But ask me in a few months and it might be Grace Kelly (again). And there's never been anyone like Emma Peel.

This is why I will never arrive at a 'signature style', although I admire people who do.

Ahem Blush although 'Katharine and Hepburn' would make great private detectives.

Want2beme · 01/05/2017 09:57

Ooh yes, Tracee Ellis Ross is lovely - great casual style as well.

Floisme Katherine Hepburn had unquestionable elegance. Heloise Letissier's very interesting.

Yeah Katharine Hepburn was great - so ahead of her time and she aged so well too (although those cheekbones helped). I saw Christine and the Queens at Glastonbury last year (well on the telly) and just loved her style. Music was good too!

DownHereInTheHorridHouse · 01/05/2017 12:53

I think there is something some women 'have' though - I bought a tunic thing like that a few months ago and I look like a sack of spuds (I'm a 12/14). I love big scarves and knot dresses, but, again, I am just a guddle of lumps when I do Sad.

Is she tall? I always hope that's the answer as there's nothing I can do about that (5ft 4 but I seem very dumpy).

After a few threads on here, I though I'd give khaki a go - bought some linen trousers, a v neck t shirt, a military sort of jacket thing (not to wear all at once though) - I swear to God, I looked like my mum when she went on coach tours of the UK in the 1970s.

Floisme · 01/05/2017 13:02

I can't do the tunic and floaty trousers thing either although I like the look on other people. The only way I can carry it off is to wear them with something very structured like a tailored jacket.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 01/05/2017 14:39

Hate the first outfit in the OP, but like the second. I like some of Mathildes Verden's stuff, generally when she's all in black!

Want2beme · 01/05/2017 16:29

Down I'd say you're being a bit hard on yourself. Not sure how tall she is, but she looks like she has a very trim and boyish figure, which is the opposite to mine!

Totes inapproates over on face book blog
She is ace
Funky made me reconsider a lot of stuff in my wardrobe too

Niminy · 01/05/2017 16:41

I'm about half Tilda Swinton's height but I still love her. I think she does trousers better than almost anyone - except Katherine Hepburn, of course.

That cardi coat in the second pic looks like my Gap one and despite being 5ft 10 I look like I'm in my dressing gown. In fact that's what I wear it as...
Some people can just get away with it.

dudsville · 01/05/2017 19:25

Tracee Ellis Ross recently on Ellen wearing a simple combo of blue jeans, white tee, long cardigan and nails painted white and she looked amazing!

Want2beme · 01/05/2017 19:55

I love that Tilda Swinton's wearing heels in the first picture. They really add a delicate touch to the outfit.

I do like Mathildes Verden's style! It's heavily reliant on neutrals, and mahoosive scarves. Very elegant! A bit like like Lagenlook in its layers, but less flowy.

BrigitteTrogneux64 · 09/05/2017 18:38

My new style icon is France's new First Lady. I think the media think her name is actually Brigitte Trogneux64 because they can't even manage a headline about her without mentioning her age!

I hope to like Brigitte and she has great style and clearly has masses of confidence. But if you had a 16/17 year old son who was in a relationship with his 40 year old teacher, what would you think?? Hmm not an S&B subject, but fascinating that they lasted.

helzapoppin2 · 09/05/2017 22:22

BrigitteTrogneux64, I love your new name! She is awesome, knows what suits her, looks great and full of confidence. Go Brigitte!

BrigitteTrogneux64 · 10/05/2017 22:38

Merci helzapoppin 2 😁

Girlywurly · 11/05/2017 08:53

Just had a think who my style icon is and realised it's actually Kim Kardashian!?! Blush Blush Blush Clearly I need help.

Intransige · 11/05/2017 09:03

Ooh I like a lot of what Mathildes is wearing. She's very toned isn't she? I think that helps for floaty looks; if you're less toned (as I am!) it lacks structure.

My style icon is Olivia Palermo. I wish I was that brave with fashion.
