Wanted: Slim fit basic vest top that washes well!

No bells or whistles, just a good, slim-fitting vest top (potentially ribbed) with a V or scoop neck, standard back and straps that will cover my bra. Normal length (I.e. Not cropped but not so long that it covers my bum). That washes well. Where do you get yours from?

Got a couple like that from Sainsburys this week that fit that brief. I don't know how they wash as I haven't yet but they were only £3 each so easily replaced if not.

M&S. I find others leave my bra showing. I have a few of these in black, plus one in cream and one white one.

Or they might be these actually! Hopefully one of those will fit the bill anyway. I've got black ones from there I reckon I've had about seven years and are still good.

namechangeiseverything · 29/04/2017 22:21

Sainsbury's vest tops wash better than any others I've had.

carrotcakecupcake · 29/04/2017 22:22

I bought a few from Joules a couple of years ago that are still going strong - I think the style is called Bo. Nice shape, washes well and covers bra straps.

BikeRunSki · 29/04/2017 22:22

Bam superb quality

SimplyPut · 29/04/2017 22:24

Dorothy Perkins, my navy one is 3yrs old and going strong.

domesticslattern · 29/04/2017 22:26

I like Bam too, but found the dark colours faded very badly. I would buy white vests from them again though.

originalbiglymavis · 29/04/2017 22:31

Muji - I've got ones years old. Other brands make them too long but these are great as they come to my waist (I'm 5"7).

NancyWake · 29/04/2017 22:48

I got one in Asda for about 2p. Still going strong.

Betterdaysahead · 29/04/2017 23:11

I have some vest tops from Gap that have been washed and worn numerous times and are still really soft and in perfect condition. They sit on my hip which is perfect for me.

kat088 · 29/04/2017 23:29

This is my favourite vest top ever. lanabambini.co.uk/store/women-sleeveless-vest-in-merino-wool-silk.html

CaulkheadNorth · 29/04/2017 23:33

M and S or Gap.

I have some from H and M which are beginning to lose their shape but I've had them for about 4 years so maybe that's okay?

Matalan

AWaspOnAWindowInAHeatwave · 30/04/2017 07:58

I got a really good one from Tesco about 5 years back.

Note3 · 30/04/2017 08:02

Sainsburys ones are good length and wash well. Tesco too.

Asda I found short in body but they may have improved in the few years since i got mine

Everyonelovessparkles · 30/04/2017 08:07

Uniqlo. I've got a red one I've had for years and it still looks like new.

Fluffycloudland77 · 30/04/2017 08:10

Boden.

Chaby · 30/04/2017 08:32

The M&S ones from the lingerie department are very good

Tatlerer · 30/04/2017 21:29

Thanks all! I've ordered a couple from M&S (the lingerie section)- will feed back!
