Mother of the bride dresses

As Mumsnet found me my bridesmaid's dress, I'm now turning to it for advice for an outfit for my mother to wear to my wedding. She's 4 foot 10 inches tall, a size 16 and is nearly 80. She wants a dress with sleeves and doesn't want to wear a jacket or cardigan. She tends to wear blue or green and doesn't wear anything bright e.g. red or too pale e.g. white or cream. Does anyone have any bright ideas before I embark on the painful experience of clothes shopping with her? Thank you

I'd start with a search on House of Fraser or Debenhams website where you can put her criteria in and get some idea of what she is looking for. They have a sale on at the moment.

Thank you for your reply. I have looked at the websites but the styles all seem very 'young' and she wouldn't even try them on (had that battle in Phase Eight!)

Mil goes to Bon Marche and had a lovely outfit for dds wedding. She is 5'2".

How about this?

I think she'll say it's too short (on the model) but because she's very short it will swamp her. I think she'd prefer something a little more fitted but not too tight. Thank you for your suggestion thought tethersend.
I thought of Bon Marche too; our local one closed down so I'll see where any other ones are nearby.
