Sore pierced ears - help!

OK MN hive mind - help me out here :)

I had my ears pierced more than 20 years ago. I've always had sensitive skin, can only wear nickel-free metals and always have. I didn't wear earrings much for a while and now, whatever I wear in them, they're turning red, hot, painful and weepy. Even with plastic, so it's unlikely to be an allergy issue.

I've googled and people (mainly Americans) go on about antibiotic cream but I don't especially want to bother the NHS with this.

So what's going on and how do I fix it?

Ask advice of a pharmacist?

Watching with interest as I have the same in one ear. Piercing done 30yrs ago when I was a child. Also have multiple allergies but is happening even with hypoallergenic stuff. I spoke to a pharmacist and they recommended Fucidin cream which is an antibiotic cream but prescription only and I feel bad taking up a GP app with something so trivial.

I'd switch to wooden earrings for a bit. A lot of the non-organic earrings don't let the infection breathe so it just gets all clogged and wet.

Fucidin then titanium earrings.

Try sea salt and cool boiled water and clean/batge with a cotton bud I've had bad infections in a lot of my piercings and if you do this there times a day for a few days it should clear up ..to stop re occourence get some gold "sleeper" style hoops gives the hole space to breath x
