£1000 for clothes

If you had £1000 to spend on new clothes what would you buy? I usually wear leggings with long tops/shirts or jeans and jumpers. I'm 26 with 2 young DDs so needs to be practical but not frumpy. I'm a nurse so don't need any office/work clothes

Really good boots, shoes and coat / jacket.

If I had any left over then excellent underwear.

I'd go on some fashion blogs and get an idea of what I look I'm aiming for and what style I like. Then I'd go and try on tons of things recommended by blogs and on here. Is this just for spring/summer this year or a year long overhaul?

Overall I'd aim for a couple of well fitting nude bras, 4 pairs of trousers/skirts, a couple of dresses, a coat (hard to look past a biker TBH), a fair few tops and spend the rest of the money on shoes. But I really like shoes so may not be the best person to ask.

I'd go to next and grab a few of the summer dresses. They have some gorgeous dresses in at the moment. I was also a leggings and top lover for some time.

Two pairs for jeggings from peacocks, only really wear jeggings now as they are comfy and easy to run around after the kids in, plus the peacocks ones are lovely, wash really well too.

I'd go and get a bra fitted correctly and buy a couple, and some new knickers.

Some new shoes also.

a decent waterproof winter coat that is warm and cosy and looks good
2 pairs of really good flattering jeans, a pristine white shirt for going out that can be dressed up or down
2-3 sets matching underwear
depending on location really good boots maybe one ankle one knee high
a cashmere jumper in flattering shade
you are 26 don't be boring and too safe and get everything in black or grey
A nice summer dress that doesn't crease that you can wear on holiday or to a BBQ or school sports parents evening not too smart not wedding style
however if you know there maybe wedding type occassion that might be an idea too
don't forget accessories your DD's will not be messy toddlers for ever
I wouldn't buy the same as you as my style is not your style and I need more smart clothes

If I had that money, and was starting from scratch I would buy:

Leather biker jacket - mine is Whistles and was about £350
Good black skinny jeans - I like All Saints
Slightly cropped straight leg jeans - again, All Saints
A couple of nice midi-dresses - my best ones last year were from New Look and about £25 each
Trainers - maybe white Stan Smiths
Black Chelsea boots
Six or seven tops/t-shirts - as you'll wash these loads I wouldn't spend a lot on them
A couple of nice sweatshirts - again, I like Whistles for these, but you can find them on eBay
Black Hush ruched skirt
Some good opaque tights - I have been wearing the same three pairs of Falke opaques for about four years, well worth the initial investment
Dark blue denim jacket

I think that would be the money gone, but with anything left I'd buy a decent high street leather bag.

My off-duty style with a toddler is jersey skirts (I like the Kettlewell ruched ones) and a T-shirt with a cardigan, or a jersey dress with a cardigan.
If I hadn't already had my colours done, I would start with that - I look so much better in "my" colours, and it makes shopping MUCH easier!

Good boots in neutral colour, colourful/interesting every day flats.
Merino or cashmere jumpers, one neutral, one bright (Uniqlo good for this)
Tailored trousers - I like Boden Richmond
One good pair of jeans
Classic good quality coat
Silk blouses - Uniqlo or Other Stories
Statement jewellery one or two pieces from J crew/Anthropologie
Good quality leather bag to coordinate or pop against coat/boots

I have shopping envy

It depends on what you need. You might have a lot of one thing but none of the other so it is hard to say anything other than what I would buy myself.

Decent waterproof but stylish coat - but one that will last years.

Knee high boots, probably flat brown ones.

Two pairs of well fitting jeans - incl one skinny pair.

Good quality white shirt. Try Cos.

Shirtdress to wear over skinny jeans.

Leather tote.

But of course a lot of the above clothing can be bought without spending an awful lot. Jeans and shirt from Zara etc. so I'd concentrate on a weatherproof coat, boots, tote.
