I'm really bad at make-up

I have horrible skin and foundation always looks patchy despite exfoliating and moisturising beforehand.
I don't know how to properly apply eyeshadow.
My eyeliner always bleeds below my eye within an hour of applying it.

Can anyone direct me towards some tutorials or anything? I don't want the overly made up porcelain doll look that seems to be all over Mrs Gloss but I would like to look nice and put together.

This lady is very good.

Don't worry about replicating the products exactly - it's more about the technique. Small point - if your skin is angry and inflamed then you need to look at your skincare routine. By 'exfoliating' do you mean you are using a scrub or brush? There are some really good skincare threads in this topic if you look at them. They will talk you through some basic do's (like washing your face properly) and don'ts (a lot of scrubs and brushes are FAR too harsh and can do more damage than good).

In regards to eyeliner, do you moisturise around your eyes? Could you be using too much? Do you use primer? If yes pop some under your eyes then a bit of foundation or concealer, don't use too much eyeliner and slightly smudge it and set it with some eyeshadow in the same shade.
