Has anyone tried Olaplex?

DH is currently in the US and I'm wondering whether to buy some. Is it one of these heavily marketed products that is actually nothing special or is it genuinely good? I've got bleach highlights.

It works on my highlighted hair. I've been having it coloured for a couple of years and had started to go very dry. I get the olaplex treatment done at the salon when I get my colour done and then use the olaplex no3 treatment at home inbetween. My hair feels so much better than it did.

PugwallsSummer · 17/04/2017 21:06

I usually have it when I get my hair colored and also use it weekly at home. It's good value for money in my opinion. My hair looks much healthier and shinier since using it, and it's really soft.

I recently had balayage at a salon that doesn't offer olaplex and my hair was noticeably drier and really tangly afterwards. One application of #2 at home really made a difference. But I won't choose a salon that doesn't offer it next time.

QueenofLouisiana · 17/04/2017 22:33

I've had it put on when I had my hair coloured. My hair feels great- not like highlighted and coloured hair st all.

DianaT1969 · 18/04/2017 07:05

Where are people buying it from in the UK? Is it possible to use it oneself from scratch? Not via a salon?

Ariandenotgrande · 18/04/2017 07:33

I got steps 1 & 2 done in salon and bought step 3 to take home. Hairdresser recommended leaving 3 in wet hair and my hair appears a bit better, thicker and not as frazzled looking (highlights). Have been using it for 2 weeks now. Cost £32. Hopefully cheaper for you OP ! Whilst not a miracle product, it's good enough to try out if you have the opportunity.

CateGory8 · 18/04/2017 09:50

Diana You can buy it from Amazon Olaplex 3
I put it on my wet hair and leave it for about 2 hours, then wash as normal with shampoo and conditioner. I do it about once a week.

DianaT1969 · 18/04/2017 21:10

CateGory8 thanks for info. I'll get some and post the results.

HiDBandSIL · 18/04/2017 23:23

Lovely, thanks. Sounds like it's worth a try. It would be great to hear how you get on diana. I'm buying directly from Olaplex because I was worried about the reviews on amazon suggesting that some of the sellers are selling fakes. It's $28 (= £22).

didn't do much for me sadly.

Fishfingersandwich9 · 19/04/2017 18:19

I have white bleached hair and my hairdresser uses olaplex and I use the no3 at home. I definitely notice a difference. They started using the L'Oréal smart bond equivalent for a few months and my hair condition definitely deteriorated. I'm pleased they've gone back to olaplex now and think it's the best.

DianaT1969 · 19/04/2017 20:53

Thanks for the heads up. I cancelled the Amazon order, which after more scrutiny seemed dodgy and will buy from Olaplex.

piknmixer · 19/04/2017 21:18

Diana I've bought it three times from Amazon, it's not dodgy.

CateGory8 · 19/04/2017 21:21

I've also bought it about 3 times from Amazon so can vouch that its genuine.

DianaT1969 · 19/04/2017 21:58

From Infependence Retial [sic]?
Fulfilled by Amazon, but at no point do they claim it's genuine or that they are authorised suppliers. Minimal company/contact details. It worried me that they either can't spell,Confused or thought that was a good name

Parker231 · 19/04/2017 22:02

I have it at the hairdressers and then use no 3 at home each week. I buy it from the hairdressers - wouldn't be without it now. Instead of dry unmanageable hair, it's sleek and smooth.

Mistletoekids · 19/04/2017 22:05

I wouldn't bother getting the home one does naff all considering the cost

The in salon treatment did seem to soften hair a bit more than usual and for a bit longer

BareFacedKitty · 19/04/2017 23:27

I use it and it's fab, I have coarse curly hair that I blow dry and straighten nearly every day, and have bleach put through it every 6 weeks! I couldn't have the colour I do without it. Lookfantastic do step 3 for £32

AesopsMables · 20/04/2017 07:07

Love this product and makes my hair so soft.

I leave it on overnight and the results last 10-14 days

Buy it on eBay

user1492232552 · 20/04/2017 07:07

Buy through lookfantastic when they do the 20% off deals, I think that's as good as you'll get

CakeThat · 20/04/2017 07:55

Can someone explain Olaplex to me please? I colour my hair at home, don't go to salon as too expensive as needs doing frequently. Can I buy all stages and use at home? If so can I use stage 1 by itself or is it only to be used when colouring? Would I just have to buy stage 3?

user1492232552 · 20/04/2017 07:59

1 goes in with the colour, 2 goes on afterwards as a one off and 3 is a weekly treatment. I guess the measurements matter with step one and 2, I just use 1/3 of a bottle with step three and rinse it out not wash it and my hair has honestly never been this good, not since i was a child.

thethoughtfox · 20/04/2017 10:40

Repaired my dried out highlighted hair. Totally worth it. I feel all swishy.

NomDePlumeReloaded · 20/04/2017 10:47

Very often the look fantastic discount codes don't apply to all brands in the site. I bought Olaplex 3 from them recently during a 20% spring promotion and it wasn't applicable to Olaplex.

Engl1shRose · 24/04/2017 13:22

I see on eBay there are 15 ml bottles available, is this enough for one application? (Shoulder length hair)
