Can I have your opinions on these potential dresses-to-get-married-in, please?

I'm 5'7", a size 12 but planning to knock a few more pounds off, fairly straight-up-and-down. I want a simple shape and sleeves of some sort but (to my surprise) have also fallen in love with sequinny/beady/embroidered-type frocks whilst searching.

What do you think? And has anyone ever ordered from Adrienna Papell for the US to the UK?

Oo I love the needle and thread one. Is ur a confidence thing or a no way wouldn't suit me thing? Could you get a simple panel added up to mid back so the top detail is still open and there, but lower back to bra strap height covered?

IfYouGoDownToTheWoodsToday · 17/04/2017 18:34

Actually OP I've just looked in the Outnet but there's nothing as nice as the dresses you've posted, from Needle And Thread.

MagnumAddict · 17/04/2017 18:35

If that's your dream dress OP a good dressmaker could perhaps help with adding a back to it?

explodingkittens · 17/04/2017 18:35

Well, that's the thing, IfYou - the dress may well be the most romantic and/or sophisticated thing about it Wink. We're not having a big formal do, just a registry office ceremony and then basically a big old party. No first dance, table plans, receiving lines etc. Plus it's my second wedding and I'm old so can't really do the blushing bride/meringue thing. But I do want to look gorgeous... so I suppose I would aim for sophisticated rather than anything else, but I want to party as well Grin

1,2 and 4, however all beautiful

Twoevils · 17/04/2017 18:38

I tried on 4 for my wedding (when I was also 43) it was gorgeous but quite heavy. Also a little long for me at 5'5". I tried it on John Lewis I think.

I ended up with something similar from Phase Eight (and in sale too!)

BenLinusatemyhomework · 17/04/2017 18:39

Love the skirt of 1 but overall I think 2 is the nicest (although they are all gorgeous).

NewPantsforaNewYear · 17/04/2017 18:40

House of Fraser have quite a lot of Adrianna Papell dresses.

Even if they don't have what you want, it may be worth trying some on to check out the sizing.

Beautiful dresses

Whileweareonthesubject · 17/04/2017 18:42

1 & 4 are my favourites, with no 4 just edging it for me.

SlB09 · 17/04/2017 18:46

My advice, try similar or those on in debenhams/john lewis. I loved very similar dresses then tried them on, they just didnt feel right, but I am a short arse!!! Once you put things on youll get a feel for the dress. I have to say I also tried monsoon, they were lovely but the fit was poor x

Disastronaut · 17/04/2017 18:46

1 & 4!! Really lovely!

nigelforgotthepassword · 17/04/2017 18:49

I like 1 and 3 the best

EatsShitAndLeaves · 17/04/2017 18:49

I think they are all very elegant but number 1 is my favourite.

I think it's just a bit more wedding appropriate and timeless imho. Second favourite is number 4.

tethersend · 17/04/2017 18:51

I like this one

NoCapes · 17/04/2017 18:52

1 & 4 are my faves Grin

cathyandclare · 17/04/2017 18:54

The needle and thread one is amazing, I love them all but 3 is my favourite

cathyandclare · 17/04/2017 18:55

...after the needle and thread one!

KindDogsTail · 17/04/2017 18:56

Why not just have a back added to Dream Dress?

plutohasfeelingstoo · 17/04/2017 19:00

They really are all lovely but no1 is by far my favourite

nooddsocksforme · 17/04/2017 19:02

no 4 is gorgeous (but they are all lovely )

explodingkittens · 17/04/2017 19:09

I have thought about having a back added to the N&T dress, but am just worried it might not look right. I do love the Floweret dress as well (green one on same site) but I'm probably not ethereal enough!

Tethersend, I like that one too and it would probably be quite a good colour for me but maybe a bit 'heavy' looking?

LapinR0se · 17/04/2017 19:15

1 & 4 are pure class

imkeepingthisnamenow · 17/04/2017 19:21

No help at all they are all gorgeous!! Probably 1&2 might just edge for me!! Congrats on the wedding!!

BerylStreep · 17/04/2017 19:25

I agree - 1 & 4
