Mumsnet wisdom, holiday shoes. WHY?

littleredpear · 17/04/2017 15:17

I am on holiday, it's 20C here. I've brought a selection of shoes and every single pair have torn my feet to shreds in different places. I have a pot of blister plasters and I'm now living in Havaianas.

Why? All preworn in the U.K., trainers, sandals, espadrilles etc.

Is it the heat? Anything I can do before we go away again? Sad

Always wear trainer liners in trainers - you can get ones that are invisible inside your shoe but prevent blisters.

With sandals, try a foot spray like Angel Feet.

Or just stick with flip flops. Grin

Cointreau, that looks good stuff, and it actually works?

CointreauVersial · 17/04/2017 15:56

It makes your feet all silky/slidey, a bit like talc, but without the mess.

I think Boots do a similar one.

I have the trainer liners and pop socks for my slip ons.

Destined to look like a hobbit all my days Grin

The heat makes your feet swell, which makes your shoes tighter!

I tend to size up with summer shoes and then add insoles for a better, comfier fit.

I also have a blister stick (like a giant lipbalm for feet) that I put on all the bits likely to rub, before wearing any sandals or shoes without socks / tights.

Swollen and sweaty feet will rub and get sore.

I live in a very hot country and I always have to buy a size bigger to account for swelling. Even my calves swell up in summer.
Everything magically returns to normal within an hour in the UK.

I like the idea of a whole new shoe wardrobe but a size up!

I have the blister stick too. Quite good but not foolproof. I get a half size up.
