What shoes and bag should I get for this dress?

I`ve found this cheap dress that fits for a formal occasion

www.zalando.co.uk/anna-field-maxi-dress-blue-an621c0h7-k11.html

but what colour shoes would you wear with it? I`m no good with heels and have wide feet.

I have some black shoes which I´ll take with me as I need them for the earlier part of the day but will black be too ..ermmm..black?

I also need some sort of small bag, preferably with a long strap so that I can have both hands free - for Wine , I'm going to need lots of it, in big glasses that need two hands to lift. I hate this dressing up and being formal stuff.

If it was formal i would go with silver shoes and bag, i thing black would look heavy with it, but thats just me.

IHaveBrilloHair · 14/04/2017 16:36

I agree with silver, I have a great pair of flat silver pointed t-bars, but they are a few years old, not sure if you can still get them.
A bag with a chain strap would probably work.

Thanks, mad, I agree, black looks a bit heavy. Silver shoes are a bit out of my comfort zone...Do you think I can get away with something really plain like these www.zalando.co.uk/marco-tozzi-ballet-pumps-silver-m3111a0bg-d11.html ?

These are identical to mine, they're really comfy, but flimsy so indoors or very short walks when it's dry (I got them for a fancy lunch)

I wouldnt go for bright silver, maybe pewter would be better, not so shiny.

Madbengalmum · 14/04/2017 16:49

If you don't want shiny metallic then the only real other option is nude shoes imho.

gojettersgo · 14/04/2017 16:56

I would suggest any metallic or nude

If you want a pop of colour, coral will work really well. Others like yellow, or bright pink team up well.

ASDA has some shoes in now that is the same colour as your dress for £14

Thanks for the suggestions.

I love the price of those ASDA ones champagne, but I can´t walk on those heels. aarrgh, a heel would look good though - lift my saggy bum a bit.

I found some similar to yours IHaveBrilloHair but they are very shiny.

Coral, red and nude might also work - I might wear those again sometime too. Ill order some and try them on - elegant wide fitting shoes arent that easy to find.

Silver is the way to go - nothing you can find that you like? Hope so- it's shouting silver at me!

Madbengalmum · 14/04/2017 20:45

Random, I totally agree!

Navyandwhite, Vogue and s/s2017 would question your thoughts, but that is your opinion.
