According to the bra intervention I'm a 32GG?

Can this be right? Pregnant so they are bigger, but this feels extreme. Going to try on a few new bras today. I was/am a 34D.

Bagel once you're in the smaller size and you've worn it in wearing the old size feels horrendously loose and unsupportive. I do have to brave through a week or two of rubbing though.

BagelGoesWalking · 12/04/2017 00:04

I think I'll end up throwing/donating all of them and getting more 34s and maybe even brave a 32!

Rawhh · 14/04/2017 13:09

Sounds about right. I went from a 38D to a 36HH. My Bras are now so much better fitting and no boob popping out from underneath the bra.

PaperdollCartoon · 14/04/2017 21:13

I know there's a few bra intervention guidelines but which did you use OP? I've been pretty confident I'm wearing the right size but now I'm doubting myself!

itsacatastrophe · 14/04/2017 21:37

I went from 36DD to 32G. Amazing difference! I get mine from bravissimo, they have an excellent return and exchange policy and every 10 I buy I get one free

onedayatatime73 · 15/04/2017 18:18

Sorry. How does the bra intervention work?

Frouby · 15/04/2017 18:23

I have just remeasured after weight loss and am now apparently a 34J 😲. From a 38 H.

I think my back size has gone down more than my boobs so cup has gone up to compensate.

Brastop is fantastic. Really cheap and one of the few places I can find bras and bikinis in my size without a bank loan.

treaclesoda · 15/04/2017 19:25

oneday measure under your boobs, pulling the measuring tape quite tight. This is your back size. Do not add on any inches. Then measure around the widest part of your boobs, preferably leaning over so that gravity takes care of things. That is your cup size. Most importantly, do not be alarmed if your cup size is suddenly much bigger than before. Eg there is no such thing as 'a DD cup' because a 32DD is a completely different size to a 38DD. Smile

onedayatatime73 · 15/04/2017 19:36

How do I turn the measurement into a cup size?

treaclesoda · 15/04/2017 19:48

One inch for each cup size, but don't forgets that it goes D, DD, E, F, FF, G, GG in most UK sizes.

If you want to post your measurements someone can help, if you'd like.

IDefinitelyWould · 15/04/2017 20:43

I've just had a go, would anyone be able to help with my measurements please? I measured my back at 80 and round the largest point at 98. Does that make any sense? I'm in desperate need of some new bras!

dementedpixie · 15/04/2017 20:46

What's that in inches?

IDefinitelyWould · 15/04/2017 20:50

Sorry, I totally missed the need for inches! 31.5 and 38.5

dementedpixie · 15/04/2017 20:51

Around 32F

IDefinitelyWould · 15/04/2017 20:54

Thank you so much! I'll order a few to try Smile

BagelGoesWalking · 21/04/2017 10:23

I've gone from a 36B to a 34DD! I got 34D to start with but definitely feel more comfortable on the DD.

Probably need a 32 band fitting but there weren't any 32DD in the shop, so I'll leave that til next time. Never in a million years would I have thought I was a DD, but it's really worth trying a bigger cup size.

dementedpixie · 21/04/2017 10:33

The sister size of 34DD would be 32E (cup size is related to back size so a 34DD is not the same cup volume as 32DD)

PaperdollCartoon · 21/04/2017 12:26

Since I posted discovered this in another thread

booborbust.com/#info_tab

It says I'm a 32E or F, I'm currently wearing 34D! I've got a bit of weight to lose which might change it but then I'm going to Bravissimo to get them to sort me out.

LotisBlue · 21/04/2017 12:32

I'm a 30g and a size 10-12. So your size doesn't sound extreme at all.

BagelGoesWalking · 21/04/2017 15:31

Demented when you said "sister size" what did you mean exactly? If a 32E has a bigger cup size than the 34DD then I think it would be too big.

I've got the bra on the middle closing today and that still feels ok.

The DD is a fraction away from being too close to my armpit so a bigger wouldn't work, I don't think...

dementedpixie · 21/04/2017 15:44

Sister sizes are bras with different back sizes but same cup volume so a bra that is 34DD would have same cup volume as 32E (as you go down a back size you go up a cup size to maintain the same cup volume). So 32E = 34DD = 36D = 38C. The lower back sizes would give more support where it's needed.

leedy · 21/04/2017 15:51

32E has exactly the same cup size as a 34DD, or a 36D (hence the "sister size" thing), just a narrower back. The cup size is the size relative to the band, not the absolute size IYKWIM. I'm a 32DD but sometimes get a 34D in styles where the band is very tight as I know the cups will be identical.

froomeonthebroom · 21/04/2017 16:03

Haven't RTFT TEXT so don't known if anyone's mentioned this, but M&S do GG cup. I order online and collect in store.

BagelGoesWalking · 21/04/2017 16:41

Thank you Demented and Leedy I was being a bit thick but I get it now. Very interesting, I never knew that.

Honestly, we need some Bra Fitting GSCE or something! My mother never, ever talked to me about bras (as far as I remember) and relying on bra fitting in shops is obviously rubbish. Thanks so much!

0live · 21/04/2017 16:46

I'm a 32GG too so you are quite normal Grin . I'm a dress size size 12 top half and 10 bottom, I look busty but not huge.

I get my bras from bravissimo and shop on a weekday morning when they are less busy.
