Perfumistas - please help

I'm looking for a new Summer perfume. Years ago Dune was my favourite perfume. I now wear Eau Dynamisante, Bronze Goddess and Miller Harris La Pluie, and I like 4711 although it instantly vanishes.

The perfect perfume would be a lasting version of Eau Dynamisante - I have tried lots of testers (and spent a lot of money). The Miller Harris perfumes (to me) are quite wintery as they end with quite a powdery warm finish.

I've tried the Miller Harris tester box, Eau Sauvage, Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille and Cafe Rose (to me wintery perfumes), Guerlain L'Heure Blue and Mitsouko, Prada - two Iris perfumes - can't remember the names, I think one was the 'poudre' version of the other one..

Out of these Eau Sauvage came the closest, but I didn't love it and it disappeared very quickly. Mitsouko was the worst on me as it smelt like the back of a rubbish van for a long time before it became quite a nice-ish interesting smell.

Any other suggestions? I think I like chypre perfumes, and aromatic rather than floral.

Or do you have any other suggestions, or pointers to how I find out more about what perfumes I like?

They do tester sets so you can try out lots of different scents too.

Well despite the other thread currently running I am currently wearing and LOVING Tom Ford Neroli Portifino, and costa azzura. I also currently wear 2 L'Artisan Perfumier perfumes - L'Eau de L'Artisan and Fou D'Absinth both of which I love.

I am hankering after Tom Ford Venitian Bergamot now

For me, Philosykos is the perfect summer scent. I could bathe in it.

Summer scents for me are Eau du Sud (Annick Goutal) sharp citrus (Yardley Jade is almost identical if you're on a budget), Liz Earle n 1 (I find her others rank, but I adore this, also sharp and citrussy) old classics like Chanel 19, Vent Vert etc. A few of the Chanel Exclusifs are summery- Bel Respiro is good, but very shortlived. I also wear the other Iris one you are thinking of (I think) Infusions d'Iris. Love it, soapy and clean.
