I'm 41. I've had really clear (few lines, inevitably, but no spots) skin for a couple of years now.

And today my chin is covered in horrible spots which won't head properly and I squeezed a couple anyway and now they're sore.

I am, of course, about to head off for weekend with lovely stylish friend. With a teenager's chin and lines everywhere else.

WHY?!?

"They'll clear up in your twenties," they said. Hollow laughter.

If you have any, I find glycolic acid good at fading the marks.

I'm your age, OP, and am getting awful zits now, that I assume are hormonal. So depressing.

I feel your pain and said the exact same to the dermatologist when I was 34 and the burst in to tears. After 20 years of bad acne, they finally put me on Roaccutane.

Oh and aged 46, they're now sneaking back thanks to the menopause.

Have to admit I feel a bit self indulgent whinging because I didn't have many spots as a teenager (dry skin) so this isn't a recurring problem. Probably is hormonal (hopefully the horrible stressful week I've just had rather than menopause!).

Will definitely keep these suggestions in mind if it persists, thank you.

OP I've had a long-running battle with bad skin since I was a teen, and I'm in my late 30s now. About 4 years ago I finally found something that sorted me out - Murad's time release cleanser and anti-aging moisturiser (the bottles are white with a small blue stripe - don't go for their specific anti-acne range as it's very drying to older skin!).

I swear by it - it's anti-acne without drying, very moisturizing as well without clogging my pores and silver extract in it provides the anti-bac action for existing spots. The moisturiser has spf15 as well. Sorry this sounds like an ad but having been in the same position 4 years ago until now, my skin has never looked better! I buy mine in John Lewis and on my first visit as I explained I was allergic to a lot of products, the counter ladies gave me a free mini-facial so I could try out how it felt on my skin.
