Dress for size 12 with pot belly?

I have a stupid sticking out stomach but am ok in other areas. I need to go shopping at the weekend to buy a dress to wear to a friend's wedding. It's quite a relaxed wedding so it doesn't need to be too formal. I'm dreading shopping as I know I'll hate how I look in everything.

I'm 5ft 6, size 12, age 34 (but 24 in my head), and have a horrible pot belly.

Any suggestions for a dress or style of dress to hide it without looking like a sack? I have quite a big chest so anything too shapeless just hangs from there and makes me look big.

Are you me?! You've just described me to a tee. Placemarking for some ideas!

But I'm a few years older and my stomach is probably larger

Empire line. Google it. It's the only way for a pot belly

Spanx. I love my Spanx! How much do you want to spend?

Spanx. They're surprisingly comfortable.

A friend of mine is apple shaped and looks amazing in dresses that are covered in fringes or ruffles all over. Hide the belly but show up the rest of the figure. this type:

Spanx just make it smoother, not actually flatter. I've spent a fortune over the years on Spanx and other similar stuff but never really got on with most of it. I like wearing high waisted jeans, they're much better than Spanx. I actually look quite nice and normal in high waisted jeans. Wish I could wear jeans to the wedding.

I'm looking to spend probably no more than £150.

Thanks for suggestions so far. Smile

Could you go for high waisted trousers with a real statement top?
