Recommend me a cleanser for blemish prone skin...

please. I seem to suffer on my cheeks & jaw line at the moment. I want a good cleanser that wont break me out & to try & reduce the breakouts. Thanks

What's your budget?

Dont really want to spend anymore than £15-20.

I can't recommend cetaphil enough. Cheap as chips but totally amazing for both mine & ds(11) skin.

Thanks girl i have briefly used Cetaphil but the one for oily skin it seemed to break me more. Do you use the one for oily skin or the ordinary one?

Amazingly, The Body Shop Tea Tree face wash cleared up my outbreaks but it was a while ago and they may have changed the formula, as the packaging has defo changed. I've started using the Naty wash for babies on my face. Works better for me than Cetaphil.

La Roche Posay Effaclar cleanser

Cetaphil didn't work for me. Estée Lauder perfectly clean face wash (£22.50 but lasts for ages) is the only thing that my skin likes.

Hand you tried adding an acid toner? REN clarimatte (£13ish) is brilliant.

Try the Body Shop camomile cleansing balm. Steer away from foaming products. And yes to an acid toner.

Jojoba oil and a clean flannel/muslin every time.

I've used la Roche posay effaclar 3 step. It worked well but is quite drying after a while so I use it with the Clinique dramatically different gel moisturiser when I feel I need it.

The effaclar dried my skin out horribly, have loads left over so wish I could use it!

Yes to Cucumbers face wash is the best one for me. I still get some breakouts but the rest of my face is pretty even and not overly dry

Dr. Hauschka Cleansing Cream. Honestly this stuff sorts me out overnight, and it's not drying at all. If needed, can be combined with intensive treatment spray, clarifying toner and oil

Obagi Clenziderm works well for me. It doesn't dry my skin out like LRP does after a while. Think it is £20 (not sure of online prices as I buy mine from a local clinic).

I use olive oil (super cheap and gets first layer of makeup and grime off)followed by pixi glow mud cleanser. Like a mini mud mask every day (I leave it on for 10 minutes when I can be bothered) with added glycolic to get all the crap off my face. It's about£18 in m&s

The break outs arise deeper in your skin than cleansing deals with. If you are prone to spots, simply cleaning your face better won't stop them - and could possibly make it worse by irritating your skin more.

I'm a Cetaphil fan too but basically something v simple with nothing that's going to irritate.

For proper spot prevention on oily skin you need benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid or a retinoid in a product you leave on your skin to work.

I agree re benzoyl peroxide. I use 5% benzoyl peroxide cream (acnecide from behind the boots pharmacy counter). I had been battling with spots for about seven months and although the obagi helped (and now keeps them at bay), the benzoyl peroxide cream cleared them up completely. It is very drying though so I'd recommend using a small amount to begin with and then build it up.

I find the more I do to me skin the worse it gets. For the last couple of years I've just washed it with Aqueous cream and a warm cloth and it's better than it's ever been.
