My finger nails are really weak and flaky. Can anyone recommend a nail strengthener that actually works?

Thank you!

OPI Nail Envy. It's pricey but good. I get it on amazon - no suspicions of it being fake but it's cheaper and on Prime too

I've been using Nailtiques Formula 2. It's the first thing that's actually worked and I really recommend it. I also use CND Solar Oil , which is a nail and cuticle conditioner. It smells like marzipan - which I love - but you may want to avoid it if you don't feel the same way.

Nails Inc vitamin e oil pen is lovely and stops dryness or flaking.

Thank you all.

Your diet is the best nail strengthener you can get.
I tried everything going and nothing helped until I upped my calcium intake - takes a few months to notice the difference but my nails hardly ever break now!

Coconut oil rubbed into nails and cuticles daily works a treat too at improving the condition of dry nails

KitKats28 · 24/03/2017 18:02

I get Nail Envy from nailpolishdirect.com, and it's genuine as far as I can tell. A twin pack is £14.95 which is a really good price. I've been using it since I stopped having acrylics, and it has repaired my crappy weak nails really well. I've tried other things, but I always go back to Nail Envy.

I'm sure someone once told me that hating to treat horse hooves is great for our nails too.

WeDoNotSow · 24/03/2017 18:03

*stuff, not hating

Nailtiques Formula 2 plus. Haven't tried Formula 2 without the plus!
It's great but more expensive than it should be as it goes thick once it's been used for a bit and the brush doesn't reach the bottom of the bottle. So annoying. I buy it from Beauty Bay, but I just noticed it's gone up to £10.75 for 7ml. But if I had to choose only 1 beauty product for the rest of my life it would be this one. My nails are dreadful without it!

I have weak nails which split and flake. Also vertical splits which I wonder may be an age thing...Confused

I'm wondering if I dare try Nail Envy. I have tried lots of other ones. Bluergh, what problems do you have?

Sorry for crap photo of nails. Didn't realise how difficult it was to take an unfuzzy photo of your own nails!

Can anyone recommend a nail strengthener?

KitKats28 please could you link to the double pack of Nail Envy? I can only find the single. nail envy at nailpolishdirect Thanks!

LadyOfTheCanyon · 26/03/2017 21:29

Sally Hansen Hard as Nails is pretty good.

Fluffycloudland77 · 26/03/2017 21:30

Cnd solar oil & rescue rx.

The oil gives flexibility and rx adds keratin. Some people just have weak nails genetically.

Botanicbaby · 26/03/2017 22:18

Agree with Molly think it must be down to diet or as Fluffy says down to genetics.

I've tried everything as I have weak nails. Nail Envy was okay but the results were short-lived I'm afraid.

Teaandcake08 · 28/03/2017 22:16

Second OPI, pricey but actually works. Have had amazing results, have nails that just don't grow and if they flipping manage mil or two they break instantly! Nail envy has given me nails I get compliments on!
Agree with pp buying from Amazon, have been know to buy it with boots points after Xmas shopping as great to myself Smile
