Pedicure my ugly toenail

I'd like to book in for a pedicure at my local salon to use a voucher. However I have a very ugly big toenail on one foot. I don't think it's fungal as it doesn't smell or hurt. I think it's trauma to the nail (dropped stuff on it, had it stood on etc.)
Will they run screaming when I take my socks off?
Should I have a different treatment?
See pic (the red dots aren't blood but old nail varnish I can't shift!) I always use a basecoat for varnish too!
Thanks all Smile

I just used Lidl mouthwash. I put the mixture on once or twice a day. I don't soak my foot or anything. I just paint the mixture onto the toenail. I had a little bottle and brush left over from a Scholl anti-fungal treatment that didn't work but I think you could put it on with a cotton bud.

Morning all, just wanted to update with this picture. I put a thickish layer of Vicks on the nail last night. Woke up this am and the white patches have gone. Excuse the hair on my toe - seems I'm part hobbit too!

I'm ridiculously thrilled for you. That's exactly what happened to mine.

Keep trimming and applying the Vicks and it will soon be gone.

try the athletes foot powder too during the day for a full belt and braces job.

Aww, Deux thanks Cake

Can I jump in here? I have fungal infections on all six of the smallest toes and it's been that way for two years now. I've tried every antifungal cream, paste, liquid and I've even taken antifungal tablets. I won't do that again due to possible liver issues. I've also tried teatree and eucalyptus oil, apple cider vinegar and vicks with no real change. The infection is right down to the nail bed. Has anyone had severe infections on more than one toe and beat it?

Hi unicorns, I had it very bad on 3 toes , thick, brown bleeding & crumbling nails. The only thing that worked for me was terbinafine tablets and I tried lots of other stuff too.
This thread has made me inspect my own toes again very closely and I'm horrified to see I think it's come back again on my big toe aarrgghh or it.

If the tablets routinely caused liver damage they wouldn't be on the market.

They cost £50+ per month for 12 months. That's why the doctors tell you it causes liver problems. They've got more important things to spend £600 of NHS funds on.

Fungal damage doesn't disappear overnight, the nails damaged and dry so the oil in the Vicks has made it a more normal colour albeit temporarily.

unicorn I had it on three toes for years all the way down to nail bed. All gone now. Took about a year to completely grow out so you have to be persistant.
